Scour-More than just a paid search engine

I have been a member of Scour for about a month, and I have found it very useful, in more ways than one. I thought that I should come and share with you guys what a wonderful site this is. Scour mixes the Social Networking 2.0 wave with search engines, creating a site that is great for all people that want to earn money on the internet. The main bit of Scour is the search engine. You get points for each search that you do through this site while logged in. This isn't like most of the sites that you have seen under the "paid-to-search" genre, where the results are from who-knows-where. At scour, you get results from the three top search engines on the internet; Yahoo, Google, and MSN search. They tell you the page ranking in each search engine for each of your results, so you can make sure that you go to the most popular sites for your information. Also, with the search engine, you get to vote on each result. When you vote, you are telling the community which sites are good to go to, and which are bad. Furthermore, you can leave comments about the sites as well, so you can tell others in the community about your good or bad experiences with a particular site. Searching, voting, and commenting all are worth one point. Now, for the social part. This is not just a search engine, but a community. The comments you create are read and used by other members in the community. You can create a profile, featuring your interests and doings online, and add friends. Finally, there are a number of social sites that you can bookmark scour onto, letting everyone in your friends lists there know about scour. Finally, there is a referral bonus. For every person that you refer to scour, you get 25% of their points toward your balance (sound familiar?). You can cash out once you reach at least 6500 points, which translates into a $25 Visa gift card. Out of all the paid-to sites out there, this one really takes the cake. I am so glad to have found this site, and I hope you will be too.

I actually learned about this site on MyLot, but it wasn't explained like this in the discussion. I thought that it would serve a lot of people well if I put a good explanation of the site out here. Thanks for responding.

I like scour. Its a easy way to make some extra cash.It might take me awhile though as I only have 1,450 right now in my account .I joined 3 or 4 month ago.I usually do searches for my daily trivias from my gpt site on scour.I also do other searches as well.Have you tried swag bucks?I search on their too at times but you can only take a chanceof winning each time you search of 1 points 5 points ect.I thik I have around 20 points in that sight so far as i dont do alot of searches on it but you can get giftcards on thier too when you get the point amount.:)

Hmm, the thing is what search engines do they use? Or where do they get their search results from? I use scour not only for the paid portion, but for the use of the three major search engines and their ranking. Its a very vital tool for my marketing of my business. I also like the web 2.0 features there. At some point this week I am going to bookmark it on all of my social networking sites. Does Swag bucks have a similar feature? How about a toolbar?

Thnx for the info. I'm checking this out right now. I couldnt understand about the redeeming part though, do they send $25 Visa Cards of what? Apart from this, is there any other way of getting the cash?

The only way they pay out is that they mail you the Visa gift card. It is a gift card that you can use as real cash.

Is this site paying only in Visa gift cards or in money too?

Depends on where you are located. I have heard that if you are outside of the US, they pay in Paypal. But I don't get to see that part of the TOS because I am in the US, where they strictly pay in Visa Gift cards.

Actually, you may want to check with someone else who may still be a member of this site. Some time after this discussion was posted, they switched to a format that works on a lottery system rather than earnings. Basically, if you were picked from the vast thousands of members, you got $25 that day. Well and dandy for those who win, but what about those who actually put in the work in commenting and searching, yet come up empty? I left soon after this change, so again you may want to find someone who is still active with Scour. Sorry for the trouble.

Sounds like a very interesting site! I haven't heard of it before now, but I think I'll be checking it out fairly soon. I'm always eager to find more websites, and if they happen to give you a bit of cash on top of everything else, I'm not one to complain! Thanks for posting this!
