after my operation months ago i notice that i become so forgetful, sometimes i go to one of the places in the house forgetting what I'm supposed to do. i sometimes forget what this thing called and i still have to describe it with the person i'm talking with before they could understand what i mean. my husband notice my being forgetful and some said it was the side effect of the general anesthesia being used when i had my operation. is there any of you guys who experience the same thing? do agree that memory loss is a side effect of anesthesia? do we have a doctor here or anybody that can clear this up, i really want to know.

I do think anesthesia affects memory. I became forgetful after my cs operation 6 years ago but not now. You will only be forgetful but in time it will clear up and you will be back to your ownself. Just don't lose hope.

hi! i am a medical doctor and up to this time i think no real study when it comes to that question. oh well some of my folks had GA (general anesthesia) in the past and that is what they are also complaining. I as see it this may be some destruction between interconnection of neurons (nerve cells) in your brain. Better make some mental execises such as sudoku, crossword puzzle and other mind stimulating activities. The more you use your brain, the more interconnections your neurons develop thus the tendency to forget will be lesser.

this situation also happen to me after i had my operation. even if i'm not a doctor i believe that this is a side effect of the anesthesia because i've noticed that a lot of people experience this after they have used anesthesia.

i also think of that but of course to be able to prove this, i think we still have to ask our anesthesiologist. thank for responding.
