Is alcoholism genetic?

I'm 23 years old and I've been drinking on a pretty regular basis since I was 16. When I say regular basis, I mean socially on the weekends, not necissarily every weekend, and not typically more than 2 nights a week. This never crossed my mind until recently, but both of my parents are recovering alcoholics. Does anyone think that there's any chance that alcoholism could be something genetic? If it were, obviously my chances of becoming an alcoholic would be very great. It wasn't until my parents were about 40 or so that they stopped drinking. In my mind I see drinking as something that I can control. But I also know that alcoholism is considered a disease, whereas diseases are uncontrollable. So this has brought me to bounce around the idea that maybe it could be genetic. I've never felt the need to drink during the day or anything drastic like that, I hardly ever even have a drink during the week. But when I do drink, it's not just one drink. I could probably say that I do drink to get drunk. Does anyone have any input on this? I'd like to hear what you all have to say, and any experiences you all have gone through. Thank you so much!!
