Have you noticed that Chia Pets are only advertised on TV at Christmas time? So what is the story with that? Do they have an 11 month gestation period? Do they hibernate the rest of the year? Are they some kind of weird crossbread butterfly type organism and come out of their cacoons then? Is Christmas music like a Sirens song to them? Anyone have an answer for theis extreme seasonal behavoir of these "beloved" pets?

I think it is the only time people will purchase them... they need an affordable gift for that someone that has it all - an office crank gift or whatever. Have you ever had a chia pet? did you name it?

I'm guessing it is because they aren't all that popular. So when Christmas time comes around they come out of hibernation LOL, in hopes that people will buy them as Christmas gifts. Either that, or they don't want to pay for air time year round to show the commercials. Or heck, maybe it's both of these things! LOL

hi stealthy I see this is a yr old but I have the idea that the rest of the year everyone realized how stupid they were and did not buy them but come christmas and hard pressed for a gift to someone who has everything they will buy the fool things as a sort of joke present. Maybe they do thrive on Christmas carols sung by the fireside, chestnuts roasting on an open fire,I am remembering old carols here.he he he
