Pirates chased and shot at a U.S. cruise liner with more than 1,000 people on board but failed to hijack the vessel as it sailed along a corridor patrolled by international warships, a maritime official said Tuesday. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081202/ap_on_re_af/piracyhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081202/ap_on_re_af/piracy I can't believe this is going on. Firing rifles chasing bigger ships, It's like something out of a movie. I realize there is a civil war going on, but this just seems insane!

I watched the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but part of me couldn't completely turn off the notion that Pirates are not good guys by any stretch of the imagination. The idea of modern people trying piracy seems.. strange. Yet, while we don't have highwaymen jumping out of bushes at people, we do still have carjackings. That seems similar enough. So, I guess even old models of criminal activity will persist and advance with technology.

I have heard alot about this on the news and I think it is a shame that while they need money and all that they would stoop so low to do so to get it.

I read about this not to long ago. I thought well about time they called it what it is. This type of stuff has never really stopped happening. But I think it is happening much more often than normal. So, people are taking notice.

I used to work for Norwegian Cruise Line and we actually had "Pirate Training" apparently this is not something that generally happens here in the United States but is very common in other parts of the world, especially the African coast.
