I don't prefer one over the other, but I prefer this photo to the sunrise: it is better balanved and there is a little detail in the foreground which helps.
This time of day is often so spectacular that people forget to compose the photo: they just record what is there, which often leads to pretty ordinary photos, despite the extraordinary scene.

The sunrise shot was from my backyard which is just hillside. This one is from my front yard and there are buildings in between, so you get the lights in the picture. But I like the other one for the colors more than anything.
