I was shocked and horrified as I watched out local news last night. I actually felt sick to my stomach. The Minister of Health released figures that show the HIV virus is most rampant amongst 10 YEAR OLD GIRLS to 19 year old young women. These 10 year olds are not being infectd by ten year old boyd are they? Not likely. Therefore they are being abused by older men. This is so disgusting. I didn't know that ten year olds were sexually active. Shouldn't they still be playing with Barbie dolls or something? Am I that old fashioned to be shocked? What are your views?

O my goodness this is awful news. I have a 12 and 13 year old and goodness I would certainly be shocked if they got HIV. I think older men must be abusing these children as how else would this happen. This is really bad. Maybe I am naive or something but I would even be shocked if my younger girls had a boyfriend. What is going on in this world today.

Pure madness is going on today. Yes, regrettably, older men have been abusing these babies. I think your girls are too young to have boy friends too. Let them have fun but keep a strict eye on them. Thank you for your response

Wow that is kind of scary. I would hope that my daughter would not be sexually active at ten years old. That would be bad parenting. At ten years old children aren't even supposed to be left home alone. I just can't believe it.

I've thought about this a great deal. I've, come to several conclusions. On is economic as these girls are from very poor homes in a third world country. Usually from a single parent home and more often than not the mother is not at home. They are not getting any attention and are often left in charge to look after younger children. Another point is ignorance on the part of the child (bad parenting) and in many cases these poor babies are so used to obeying persons in authority that they don't know that it is okay to say NO. Many of these girls have stated that they were abused by an uncle or a male cousin or someone close to the family whilst they were either alone at home or at home with yo9unger siblings. It is just tragic and the country is reeling from shock. It does not happen in families of higher income where they are able to care in a better way for their children. They have now been removed form homes and are receiving counseling. God help them. Thank you for your response
