We were talking at lunch today about Christmas and how there is never enough money to cover presents. I told everyone they should feel lucky and then I told them about my fondest Christmas Memory.
My father raised 5 childern all by himself. To say the least we were poor. When it comes to believing in Santa, I never had a choice, there was never enough money for presents, so Santa did not exist (either did the tooth fairy).
One Christmas morning my dad went to leave to go get coffee or milk or something like that and when he opened the door, there was a huge Christmas Tree fully decorated, a full course Christmas dinner with Turkey and all the fixings and presents for everyone. OH GOD! there were so many presents, they appeared to go on forever. I got two sweaters, a new pair of shoes, a baby doll and a winter jacket. It was the best Christmas ever! I was warm and finally had new cloths to wear to school.
We never found out who was reasonable for this wonderful moment in my life, but I grew up in upstate New York and if the person responsible is reading this post thank you!
How about you, what do you remember from Christmas as a child.

I remember when I was young, on Christmas Eves, we would share a "hefty" dinner and would receive our gifts, not all of them yet. Just one each, to have something to open for the occasion. And then, even if we slept late that evening/midnight, we would still wake up early and rush to each other's room and say "Merry Christmas". Then we rush to the Christmas tree to open the rest of the gifts.
