Is It Really the Thought That Counts?

The holidays are upon us, once more, and that means lots of shopping, scavenging, and bargain hunting for consumers all over. It's always a real process for me when it comes to selecting the perfect gifts. I take a lot of time and care when figuring out what each person might really enjoy. I think about them, personally, and what they like to do. I think of their hobbies, interests, and spacial capacity. My question is this: Do you, as a receiver of gifts, honestly appreciate the thought that goes into your gifts? Do you think that the people you know really "Get" you? Would you rather get something impersonal, like money or a gift card, than a painstakingly procured trinket? Personally, I'd rather get a piece of garbage that someone thought I'd really find interesting than a thoughtless but expensive gift.

I think it is. I would rather have something with a lot of heart put into it than a mass produced gift that everyone else will have. Money is tight for everyone this year, so it's good to be creative. I'm not a materialistic person.

That's what I like to hear! (or rather read) Being appreciative of what you have is so much more important than wanting more.
