Do you switch off the lights or keep it on when you watch TV?

I think, it is better for me to switch the lights on while watching TV. My mother told me something about radiation, that if we watch TV we must turn on the lights to control radiation. I don't know but that's what I remember and I'm used to it. But when I go to a Movie Theater, they switch off the lights when they watch which is different. I guess movie theater don't give off radiation that can harm the eyes or body but they just turn off the lights for better viewing.

generally I keep the lights on watching TV because I have read somewhere that when you're watching colour television it is always preferred to keep the lights on. Not only does it protects from high irradiation but also into tears a bit of comfort to the eyes. The reason is that if you have a dark surrounding than all the light in which is falling on your eyes are coming from the television itself which is very bright. This can be a little painful for your eyes. But if you keep the lights on them the room is bright enough and it won't create a contrast to your eyes when you watch the colour television.

no i dont. i am very busy so i can not turn off the lights when i am watching tv so i can do something else besides just watching tv. but if i am lying down aleady and ready to sleep i turn off the lights. so if i get really really sleepy i will just turn off the tv and sleep. i will no longer stand up and turn off the lights. it really hurst my eyes when watching tv with no lights. i agree with you when it comes to radiation.... i guess that is what cause the hurting of the eyes. welcome to mylot hope you like it here like most of us do.

I normally watch television and movies with the lights off.
It should be emphasized that most TV sets have not been found to give off any measurable level of radiation, and there is no evidence that radiation from TV sets has resulted in human injury.

it really all depends on what I'm doing. Since discovering Mylot I have been doing that a lot. Normally I have the tv on and the lights on and I'm on the computer. Now if I'm just plain tired I will have the lights off and in about fifteen to twenty minutes the televison will be watching me. LOL
