Personally I dont smoke.. Many of my friends do... My advice to all or any of my friends is always to quit... I used to dip my friends matchstick in water and then return it so that he would be unsuccesful lightning the cigratte... Hide the cigratte packet and such temporary attempts to quit... None works... What according to you is the best solution to make someone quit smoking.. I advise to purchase a brand which you dislike and may be eventually you may start disliking it... Not sure if this works too.. What,s your say...

Hey thinking of quitting?? Well it's just in you and your mind, if you had the mind of commitment to quit you can do it.

Well, in fact a person can never quit smoking forcefully or by any subsitutes, it could only be done by his perfect decision or commitment to himself which can help him. Anything like giving a suggestion will be totally fake as he'll never be able to quit smoking by that. But still i can just say, if a person is smoking to a larger extent, then it must be because of some spoiled community in which he is indulged, so by avoiding that community he can juzz change himself or by living in such a company who doesn't smoke n remains away from such environment.

You are not stopping your friends from smoking, but you are decreasing your respect from them. Any one could not stop else's smoking other that his girlfriend. Its my personal experience. I really tried so hard to quit smoke, but still i couldn't quit it totally. I used to smoke once in 3-4 days. I was used to smoke at least 18-20 ciggis in a day. Its all possible because of my girlfriend. As i dont like to smoke whenever i am with her. Then she started to stay with me for the most of the time in a day.. And another reason is, Even i was wishing to quit smoking. You cant force any one to quit smoking. It wont work until that guy wishes to quit it.

I wish that I didn't smoke. I have though for over 25 years. I have tried everything to quit. Cold turkey, which gave me terrible headaches that wouldnt stop, cutting down, which I am doing right now, I have tried the nicotene gum, ect.... but nothing has worked. I usually get the terrible withdrawl headaches which I cant stand. I am only cutting down right now. I cant afford to do any of the other things. I have alot of stress in my life right now so I don't think that now is the time to quit. Besides, I am still trying to lose weight, and quiting when your trying to lose weight is like a double wammy.

You cant make someone quit smoking, they have to more then just want it. It is so addictive. I know I smoke and I tried to quit again not to long ago. I discovered until I can get outside with the kids in the spring, I cant pull it off. It really is a stress reliever and until it is spring where we can be outside and not all holed up in the house it wont work for me without putting on the pounds and I so dont want to do that agian. I was stupid I quit for 3 years and started again, long story but being around smokers with alot of stress I collapsed and there I was again. I was so stupid to think that I could just smoke a couple that day and not get hooked again! Anyways unless it is something they are willing to do and want to do it wont happen and even then it is more of a fight then any non-smoker will ever realize. Like I said Im hoping to kick the habit again in the Spring. Where I can get busy with things.

I ever had the ldea you mentioned,I am a smoker, but I have not gotten success in quitting smoking.I think the main problem is whether our willpower is firm enough.

I am not sure but I think the decision to quit smoking should come from the person who smokes or else it will be difficult to make them quit smoking. Quitting smoking need a lot of effort and I know it will be hard. Most of the people who plan to quit smoking didn't succeed after 6 months.

Hi Joystick! I have been smoking for well over 26 years and have tried quiting many times but I always seem to start up again. I once quit for 10 months!.. and stupid me began smoking again. but anyway... what I think people should know is that a persons MENTAL capacity and their will power varies according to their personality type and also their margine for personal discipline. You see... the smoking addiction is much more mental than it is physical and it just simply takes a very STRONG MENTAL capacity to keep you from weakening and "light up" as they say... . What it comes down to is really your BELIEF in YOURSELF. and the openess and honesty to yourself to SEE the NONSENSE of of it all.

I was smoking for almost 20 years in the past, and I give up smoking since 1998. My advice, any personal desire, that include smoking, can only work when we put our personal commitment. When you say you want to quit, you just start that instantly and do not use any replacement. As any replacement is just like the way we give candy to a crying child requesting for an ice cream, of which when he/she finished his/her candy then he/she will start to cry and asking the same thing again. If you want to quit, just quit and never look back .. Setyadi@indo.net.id
