Hair Cuts

How often do you have to get your kid's hair cut? Do you cut their hair yourself, or take them to a salon to do it? Has the economy made a difference in where or how often your kids get a hair cut? Well we've pretty much always been broke, and with this many kids, it difficult to afford salon hair cuts. We have tried doing it ourselves, but our boys ended up bald! Luckily it was during the summer. We haven't attempted it since, they go to a salon now, but we do go a bit longer between hair cuts than we should. Right now my 3 older boys are in need of hair cuts. I'd like to do a family Christmas portrait, but won't do so until the boys get their hair cuts. I have been wanting the hair cuts for 2 weeks now, but have been a bit too broke to do so since we've been more concerned with Christmas presents. But I don't think I can put it off any longer. So they'll be getting their hair cuts this weekend. Luckily my daughter is so much easier. She does not need a hair cut nearly as often as the boys do. She has probably only had 3 hair cuts in her life, while the boys get a few more than 3 each year. I just wish there was a cheaper alternative for my boys.

My son has only had one professional hair cut in his almost 9 years. I used to cut it, but anymore my mom is the only one he will let cut his hair. He gets it about once every other month. My daughter is almost 2 and she has never had a haircut. I have trimmed a few sections, but never a full blown haircut. It is down to the middle of her back when it is wet and the curls are out of it. Once it dries it is up above her shoulders.

Since my daughters hair is so curly you really can't tell how long it really is. I see someone has liked my response so much they copied it word for word further down in this discussion.

Hmm, seems the identical response was deleted. Thank goodness it wasn't the whole discussion.

I never had a daughter. But I think they are so cute when they are little with longer hair. Like in pig-tails.

A few months ago was the first time my oldest had her hair cut in a salon. The do kids cuts for $10 so that wasn't too bad. Before I would just cut her hair straight across and it looked fine, but she wanted it short and I didn't want to mess it up. I've done the same with my middle ones hair too. I haven't cut the baby's hair yet at all. They are both going hopefully in the next week to get theirs done. My brother in laws mom used to have her own hair place. So she is going to cut both their hair for free. I can't see paying $10 a piece for them. Especially for the baby who just needs a trim.

I bring the boys to a place that does them for $5. Girls are more expensive, but as I said, my daughter hasn't had too many cuts in her life. I think mostly she's just gotten one before each school year, and that's it. I wish I knew someone who'd do it for free or for a couple bucks. If I could even just save the tip money, that would be worth while to me.

We get the children's hair cut when it needs cutting. My husband cuts it and does a very good job.

I use to cut my boy's hair. Once in a while their dad would take then to the barber shop. It is so much cheaper if you know how to cut their hair.

I have always cut my husband's hair. Very rarely he will go to the barber if he needs to desperately get a hair cut for an event or something and we are out of time. I cut my son's hair for years. When he was small, the "skate cut" or bowl cut was in and it was fairly easy for me to do. Then he just switched to a basic short cut. Now that he is 14, he goes to a salon right up the road. Their cuts are about $11. He usually only goes about every 8 weeks or so . That's not too pricey. My daughter has a bob and is really easy for me to cut. I got a gift certificate for a salon for Christmas last year from my friend whose son I was watching. My daughter went with me and we both got cuts. We were really disappointed in hers. Especially my daughter who said that my cuts we better! So I guess I'll be doing hers for awhile yet!

At least I'm lucky in that my husband never needs hair cuts. He shaves his head, lol!

if your children are boys then they really need some haircuts maybe every month i think because boys hair grows faster than girls...

My wife cuts my 2 sons hair about every 3 months. She also cuts my hair about every 3 months or so. She does a really good job at it and it saves us money too which is good.

I used to do my boys hair and my hair myself but when my daughter was born I decided that it was time to start going to a hairdressers. So now my hubby takes the boys about once a month and myself and my daughter go once every 8 weeks.

My fiances son gets a hair cut whenever we think his hair looks meey all the time. His dad is a Marine so he gets a military cut and one of us does it. Occasionally his mom will take him to get his hair cut and buzz it all off. I think it's a waste of money to take him to a salon to just take a razor to his head anyway, when we can do it for free. Owell, let her waste her money. Our youngest girl hasn't had hers cut at all yet. Our oldest daughter has gotten hers professionally cut once. Her dad usually cuts her bangs. I just started cutting her hair and I do the back and her bangs. She gets her bangs cut whenever they get into her eyes. The back has only been cut twice.

Hi, I have 6 boys age between 2 to 27 years. The eldest is working and staying on his own.At first I cut their hair myself. I bought a set of scissors and hair clipper. I really save some money. Later to save time I just give the boys some money to go to the barber. I even cut my hubby's hair but if I'm in busy they will seek the barber's help. The reason that we cut our own hair is the barber may use brush made from pig's hair/bristles. It is against my religion.

You can do a haitcut even daily with out going to salon, make the style like a military cut or just cut it directly with a razor
