OK so my boyfriend has been getting alot of random people calling his phone lately. One time he gave the phone and told me to tell them that they have the wrong number. So i answer it and they go through their spill of who they are and what not and ask for my boyfriend and so i put on an english accent and im like "im sorry i do believe you have the wrong number" ... what do u do when someone calls you over and over and over?

I got my phone numbers listed on the National Do Not Call List. It is free and it removes your telephone number from the computer generated lists that they have. I don't get ANY telemarketers. If they do call they face a $10,000 fine. The address is: www.ftc.gov/donotcall I think that it is only good in the US, but for the people of the U.S. it's great, I don't spend so much time grabbing and answering nuisance calls.

well first off let me tell you what you can do. step 1 : tell the telemarketer to take them off of their list of people to call step 2 : if they continue to call then inform not only your phone company but remind the telemarketer of what you had said before, and also inform him that a lawsuit will be applied if they call again. step 3 : if none of the above worked ask for their manager when they call and get the requireed information and then start a lawsuit. but besides taht i mostly just slam the phone down after telling them where to go.

This is a frustrating business practice and there doesn't seem to be much we can do about it. One thing I do is look at my caller id whenever a call comes in. Most of the time telemarketers will be calling from an 800 number. Another thing I do is refuse to answer any calls that don't reveal themselves on my caller id. If the caller feels the need to hide his identity I have no intention of talking to them. Another thing is, if the first word out of their mouth is congratulations I just hang up the phone. I also hang up the phone if there is a hesitation on the other end after I've said hello because this means that a computer called my phone and was waiting for me to answer before connecting me to a telemarketer. Another thing I've started doing is never putting my real phone number on any forms I fill out online. Since I've quit that practice my telemarketers calls have decreased dramatically.

See the numbers that call arn't 800 numbers though. That is the weird thing about it. It just gets tiring having people call like that all the time and i put all our bnumbers on the do not call list and they still do so. i dont know! life goes on i guess thank you for your response i hope u have a great day!
