I remember when Bill Clinton was in office he was alleged to have an affair with an intern named Monica Lewinski and it caused an uproar .He was taken before several tribunals and questioned thoroughly . I dont t support infidelity on any grounds but I just wondered on what grounds he was being judged .Is it because was the president and he leads by example ?or is that presidents are supposed to have better morals or is it that he brought shame to the white house,an institution of purity? What were the grounds on which he was being criminalized ?

All leaders of countries lead by example of truth and honesty,he was found out ,and I don't think it was the act it was the fact he lied about Monica .The vast majority of Americans are quite religious and have a strong moral background and beleave in the family and its values and fidelity. If you are going to lead a nation with those sorts of belief and morals then you should not be shocked when the people who put you in power because they beleave you represent them find out what you are really like.It is betraying their trust and you should get whats coming I am afraid .the moral of this story is if you lead on morality, then keep your trousers on.

I agree with you on morality we should all have a moral center but I found it s double standard that they should hold their leader to such high standards when some of these same people are themselves engaged in infidelity. In addition to which these are the same leaders that sanctions wars ,ignore plea of starving nations around the world and have prisoner in guantanimo bay without trial. Therefore I am asking why the double standards why should he have a moral center in this regard and not others, now wonder the poor man was confused as to which he should follow-----lol ignore this last sentence was just giving trouble

A president is supposed to represent the American people. So he has to be extra careful. The ones who do not mind are of course democrats and the ones who voted for Obama and before that Clinton. The trouble is we have a president who leads by his moral example, attends church, but many Americans want a president who is immoral, has affairs or disregards innocent life and believes that some lifestyles should be tolerated and approved over those of strict morality. There is an old rule from the Roman times about Caesar's wife being above reproach. The trouble is people love a ruler who is more exciting then one who attends church, is faithful to his wife, etc. In other words, someone who will not tell them when they are wrong.

Actually the whole things came out because a woman who worked in teh white house said Bill Clinton $exually harassed her. Her lawyer brought up monica ( and a ton of other women) to show that he had a pattern of inappropriate behavior. Bill lied under oath in a court of law about Monica. That was waht got him into trouble. NOt the afffair but lying to a judge in a court room. THat would get anyone into trouble. YOu do not lie in a court of law, not even the president without getting into trouble for it. That is what got him empeached and the court later revoked his law license for it. SO basically he got disbarred (a lawyer even a president who is a lawyer should know better htan to lie in court). Most people think it was the affair that got him into trouble. But it wasn't. IF he would have told the truth in court he would not have been impeached or disbarred. Sure the press and people would have been upset over the affair, but nothing really bad would have happened to him.

I will not hold a political leader to the same moral code as that I will hold for a spiritual leader. The oath s/he has taken, the tasks expected of him, and the personal qualities required to do the job is different from that of a priest or a reverend. But I would expect the president to follow normal and average rules of behavior and code of conduct.
