Some people will open their Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve. I have always opened mine on Christmas morning. I love the anticipation of going to bed the night before knowing that there will be some kind of excitement the next morning. So when do you open your Christmas gifts?

We've gotten to open some both days for as long as I can remember. We used to go to my grandmother's christmas eve and my cousins and i would get to open presents there from her and from aunts and uncles. Then we would go home and get up christmas morning at our house and open presents. sometimes we would get to open one at our home christmas eve before we would go to bed. My grandmother passed away but we still keep the tradition of getting together with my Aunt and Uncle.

On Christmas day we normally have a tradition every year and ever since I was younger I have stuck to it. On an typical year i'll wake up and open one present which is normally something useful I can play with or do something with for the rest of the morning. At about one or two in the afternoon we all settle down and have our christmas dinner which my mum spends all morning making and it always tasts so delicious when it's served up in front of you. After this and only when the table has been tidied do we all sit down as a family and take it in turns to open our presents. Because we spread the presents and lunch out over the day we don't actually finish opening our presents till about six o'clock if not later some years....it does make the day much more special though and keeps it going for longer which I loved especially as a child.

But when I got married and had kids we always opened them on Christmas Eve. I like it that way. On Christmas day my kids had there Christmas stockings to take down and see what santa brought them.

When I was much younger I would always wait for the morning of christmas day! It just made the whole process more exciting and special. But there would be a massive amount of anticipation!!! I remember that I would usually go to sleep on christmas eve with all of my presents right next to me!

Its more about making sure the whole family is celebrating together than presents!

Yes, family togetherness is very important. However, it's also important to donate a gift to someone in need. For someone who doesn't have any family at all a gift would be a wonderful thing to receive! At least they would have something to open and put a smile on their face and to just know that someone wants them to have a Merry Christmas.

When I was little we would always go to my grannys for christmas on christmas eve she cooked food for two days before and it was as fresh when we ate as the minute she cooked it. I miss those days now and have tried to copy my christmas with our children but it is never quite the same. I guess granny just added a special touch somehow. This year will be a sad year for me as one of our sons won't be able to make it home for the holidays and he missed thanksgiving. Money is so tight and he lives so far away. so I haven't even gotten in the mood to put up our christmas decorations or even the tree yet.

That sounds nice :) When I was a kid we'd usually wait all day until after dinner before present. But there was candy when I woke up in the morning each 24th of Dec and one or two comic books in a christmas stocking so I had things occupying my time :)

When I was a kid, I never had a christmas gift or present since it was not allowed of the religion where my family are into. That religion believed on Jesus Christ but they don't believe that Jesus was born on December twenty five, so that's the why reason they don't celebrate christmas at all. When I separated from that religion that's the time I learnt what is christmas and joining the people who celebrates it. And from that time I usually open my presents on christmas morning. Hopefully I have presents to be opened this christmas.

all growing up, it was my dad's side of the family's tradition to open presents on Christmas Eve. it was my mom's side of the family's tradition to open presents on Christmas Day. They asked us kids which day we wanted to open presents. of course we always chose Christmas Eve. We would have a fancy dinner and then go to the Christmas Eve service at the church and then when we got home from that (around 9 pm), we would open our presents. Now that i am married, we stil go to the Christmas Eve service at the church, but we open our presents Christmas Day.

We also go to the Christmas Eve service at church. There is always something so magical that night that makes you feel so much love for each other.

The best part really is giving gifts to others and seeing their faces light up when they open something.

as a family, we open our presents when ever we can fit it in. we have a lot of family to see so it just depends when we can get some time to ourselves. we have no set date. we get together with hubbys family (there are 20 or us) and my parents (i am an only child) so this year, it is christmas eve at church and my parents and christmas day with my parents. since boxing day is a holiday here in canada, we will get together with hubbys family then.

When we were growing up, we always opened them on Christmas Eve evening because my dad couldn't stand waiting to see our happiness, then Christmas morning there were always the stockings stuff hanging over the fireplace. Now we celebrate with my husbands family and the kids open one gift on Chritmas Eve evening and then rest first thing in the morning, along with the stockings.

Well it is a tradition in our family to open christmas gifts together on the christmas eve. We usually put those gifts under our big chrismastree and then, when christmas eve arrive, after eating, we open the gifts together.
