yeah its a trend that is quickly becoming the preffered method of obtaining content. consumerism marches ever onward. the largest download I've torrented was around 40 odd Gig. it took absolutely ages.

just thought I'd add a little something. it's the busiest week for internet orders for example yesterday in the uk one depot of play.com was taking orders of 800 a second and was expecting an increase to 1500 a second later in the week. It got me thinking that torrenting/downloading isn't a trend, it is the current standard for obtaining things quickly and easily. If anything it is going to increase expontentially( although how companies can turn a profit is yet to be seen,basically at this time most are offering extreme discounts to try and stay afloat) as bandwidth increases and the technology areas of data storage get ever larger and faster(eg USB keys have got steadily cheaper and larger) downloading will never get rid of shops/stores but it is having a very significant impact on them.

it's not all bad. for instance, i download anime. it's because it is not available where i live and if it is, it is not the current anime and it's really hard to find an interesting anime show on tv that has not been dubbed in English or in other languages. I prefer the original dub since it has much more of the Japanese culture in it.
i however, do not think it's entirely good too. for instance, downloading music and movies would decrease the actual sales. people who work in the industry will find this a problem.

I can pretty much say that I was wrong! Downloading and ordering online has become the norm, whereas shops and independents are dying due to bad economies! the capacity for online storage has got bigger and bigger, 25gig on skydrive!

Yes now downloading is increasing because of various websites provided free downloading facility. Many people downloads free game, songs, movie etc. But I like only songs downloading not game and movie.

not really, its just a way of life. I wouldn't say its a trend.. everyone does it.

Yes even i think like that because many games and softwares which we need to buy are available for free in torrents and its something like saving money but if we download a big file with a slow connection its really a good achivement
