If you received enough money to cover some debts, what will you do?

Would you choose to cover some debts like credit cards, or save th money for who knows when you'll need it? I want to cover 2 credit cards debt so I won't be paying interest any more(I still have other credit crds left), but a friend said that's better to put what I received, aside, just in case. Can you guys help?
