What examples of prejudice have you experienced?

If you read my other posts, you will see I have started to list some of the many cases of anti-male discrimination and prejudice in the UK - Social Services, Police, family and criminal court judges mostly seem to be prejudiced against men in general and fathers in particular. Men are 20 times more likely to be stopped and searched than women. There are 80,000 men in prison and only 4000 women. The best indicator of sentence is gender (according to a home office report in 2003). Women retire at 60 men at 65. Mothers have 12 months maternity leave, men only 2 weeks paternity leave. What examples have you noticed?

I work with people with disabilities, and see a lot of prejudice towards them. I work one on one as a personal assistant with a lady with Cerebral palsy. Too often she is treated as if she is not intelligent (she is a college grad) because she uses a wheelchair and her speech is hard to understand. She wanted to apply for a volunteer position at an area nursing home. She was up front in her application about her disability. The person from the place called, and I put the phone on speaker so the lady I work with could hear. What she heard was "We do not, as a rule, hire them for volunteering as it might upset the patients". What?

On Television I Have Noticed That There are Lots of female orientated stories and that things that happen to women are highlighted more than those occuring to men.

I experienced discrimination on the job, which in fact led to me being forced from my job, that I believe was due to my age and my gender. In other words, I was discriminated against because I'm a woman above a "certain age". I was suffering from multiple physical problems which really had little or nothing to do with my age or my gender but were the result of many years of wear and tear from my job but I was given an ultimatum, either I worked at full speed with full lifting and carrying capabilities or leave.
