I have a criminal record

Supposedly. I applied for public housing and I guess they do a criminal background check. It came back that I have a record which cannot be right because I've never even been arrested and I had one speeding ticket. I called them and they told me the 911 center did the check so I called them and at first they couldn't tell me any details but then put me on the phone with someone else and he took down my social security number and name and he is supposed to call me back. I am really ticked off cause this isn't funny to me. I am not a criminal and I don't appreciate this check coming back saying that I am.

You really need to check into this. The only way it would come back that you have a criminal record when you do not, is if someone has stolen your social security number and stold your idenity. They are the one with the record.

The lady from housing just called and said there was a mistake made so I am in the clear. I knew it had to be a mistake cause like I said I'm a good girl. :)

I'm a bit late in replying. Glad to hear it all worked out. You have to really be on top of things with this. There is too much identity theft going around. My husband once supposedly had an outstanding speeding and driving without a license ticket. Somebody used his name and DL# I guess. This was twenty years ago when people still had their DL# on their checks. I suppose somebody got it from there or it was a family member. He got lucky because he could proof that at the time the ticket was issued he was about sixhundred miles away at college. So, if stuff like that pops up you can't simply let it go. Of course in your case it was important anyway to have it straightened out. BTW, it also always pays to check one's credit report the three times a year it's free. It'll give you an idea whether somebody is using your identity to get money;)
