My sister tried to commit suicide once.

When she was about 15 or 16 she was prescribed anti-depressants which, at the time, they didn't know about all the negative effects they can have on a teenager. You will hear nowadays on any commercial for anti-depressants about how they are not recommended for people under 18. Well in my sister's case she had also met some very unsaviory characters in the neighborhood who introduced her into cocaine. She decided to quit taking the depression medicine, which is a cardinal "do not" when taking anti-depressants. She had a double crash from the cocaine and not taking her medication and slit her arms at the inside of the elbow joint. Luckly my mother found her in the tub nearly bleeding to death and she lived to tell about it.

She was very lucky that her mother found her. Anti-depressants can be helpful to some ppl but they can also be very addictive and hard on a person as well. When my dog, Petey, passed away I had a somewhat nervous breakdown and my doctor prescribed anti-depressants and I got the script filled and then sat looking at the pills. I didn't want to get hooked on them and in the end I decided that talking to Petey about how I felt was a better option. I started talking to his picture, knowing that he could hear me. I told him all about how I felt, what was going on in my head and how much I missed him. I never did take the pills and eventually I just flushed them.
