My country is not exempted in this global economic crisis, too sad that Christmas season is too much affected. Every family in a Christian country celebrates this special holiday of the year, and many people have been asking "What about Christmas? Do we stil have the chance to celebrate it? What about the kids who are expecting gifts this Christmas? This is too frustrating for kids who are expecting their gifts. But what can we do? we are in this deep crisis & everyone's aware of it. This hardship that we are experiencing now is not a hindrance in the celebration of Jesus' birthday. My family simply celebrates this day every year, we have simple gift giving that everyone enjoys, we have foods enough for us to eat for the Christmas eve, and for the visitors on the 25th, just incase we have some. we have experienced hardship because of financial problem, which i considered one of the lowest part of our life, but still we manage to celebrate Christmas with enough foods and simple gift giving for my kids. we do not have enough xmas lights around the house but our home is well lighted because my family is intact & happy. though the celebration is a tradition, what matters most is celebrating it with our family in a very simple way. How about you, mylotters, how will you spend Christmas in this time of crisis?

My family are not christian but on Christmas, we still meet up and have fun together. Everyone would bring a dish so this would be easier for the host. As for gifts, children might be disapointed unfortunately. However, my mom would rarely buy me gifts when i was smaller. My mom's income was low and I understood the hardship she went through. So at some point, children should understand the situation we are in here. Maybe try to explain them that due to the economical crisis, the monney is hard to get. What is important on Christmas day for me is that everyone has the chance to be together and celebrate. Gifts are just materials...of course they are fun to receive but there are things more important than that. I planned on buying gifts for my friends as well but I am also short on monney and I also have to save up for next semester's university fees. Good luck and happy holidays :)
