Just at 6:20pm of December 5, 2008(EST), CIAO announced that they have completely replaced the earning-per-review plan and launched their Premium Fund as well as increased the payout which now includes $10 first place and $5 second prize. They will be introducing more incentives later and keep their members up-to-date for their changes. The $0.25 per review incentive is gone since it was replaced by the Premium Fund. CIAO is distributing $2,000 USD to the writers of the best reviews each month - about 800 reviews will be considered and only opinions written in the previous month will be eligible. The first batch of the reviews to be considered will be from the past November. The five best reviews will receive $20 each and a diamond symbol will appear next to the review title.
This is the recent announcement made by CIAO, so, fellow mylotters who are likewise members of CIAO what can you say about their recent money-earning system?

It's a very sad news because that means less income for Ciao reviewers. The sure $.25 for every review submitted is now deleted and you only have to wait till you get included in the 5 best reviews to get $20. I have one question though, how are those who did not qualify for the Premium fund gonna earn? Are the payment per rating given by readers not likewise deleted? If not this means we only get to be paid if readers will rate us. This means we've got to build strong friendship with supportive friends in order to enhance our earnings. And better yet make the best out of every reviews we make in order to get good chances of making it to the top 5. That would be so tough!

Yeah, my friend, it's quite sad although I have nothing against with the new earning policy of CIAO because it is within their descrition to decide what is appropriate. In the meantime, I will be still active in the community in order to know how the new earning policy works and to wait for another up dates. Besides, I have still my unclaimed earnings of more than $10 of which am planning to request it after my local bank account be activated. So far, I found that every activity which I participated has been recorded and reflected accordingly as shown in the statistics and account balance section. I may just hope that CIAO would be still fruitful and rewarding. In the event that CIAO is no longer beneficial to stay, then I have to leave freely and voluntarily. Thanks in responding, my friend.

Somehow my enthusiasm with Ciao has diminished. Yesterday I made no reviews. But just like you maybe I will wait and see what Ciao has to offer after the new developments.

I'm kind of disappointed about the new system. I know a lot of the reviews were not good, but there are seriously a lot of people who are trying to do their best to review products they have used before. I think they should've just increased the word count, and just watch out for cheaters and people who go offtopic and stuff, monitoring people's reviews more closer. If I'd known they were going to do that I would've wrote more reviews instead of being lazy and writing just a couple a day, since I actually think about what I am going to write.

The new earning policy of CIAO really disappointed mostly of their members. This would definitely result to reduction of population that may also cause less drive of traffic, however, since as of these days they have that more than 2billion users worldwide, it is really difficult for them to pay these people even if the payment is only $0.25. So, it would be better to have the population reduces by implementing policy that would be beneficial to the community. Anyway, CIAO is owned by MICROSOFT, so, the new policy does not affect to them, its standing and credibility, being rich and famous.

I suppose less population would mean less competition. . .I'm going to try harder to write better quality reviews than the ones I have before. Even though, I have to say mine are better than some of the spam reviews I've seen on there. I don't know why people bother to review a product and write in unnecessary caps and chatspeak. 120 words free of grammar and spelling errors, while being on-topic, is not that hard to accomplish. And if it's a person barely learning how to write English, they should at least find someone to look over their work for them.

CIAO is a review community for products sold around the globe including those products you have been using it. As of yesterday they changes their earning system which is very hard to meet by their members. I do not know what will happen. I was even very happy while joining CIAO because I thought it would be a better place earn extra income and I even started to love it but when I read the announcement just this afternoon, I was quite disappointed. What I worried most is my earning of more than $10 which I earned in just 2 weeks for participating reviews, if I will be paid of it.

This system was very good ,as it use to pay a lot , but the change in system is also not too bad , as it has lead to a fact that , the cheaters not paid by this.

Hi, my unclaim earnings is more than $10. I did not request the payment because am planning to request it next week but sad to say when learned by their new earning system. I do not know if my earnings will be affected by this new policy. I will try to request for payment anytime from now and would be still active in CIAO to know more how the new policy works and to wait for another up dates. Thanks
