I prefer to go to work driving my own car than having lifts. This year my wife and I are using one car when we go to work since our place of work is not very far from each other. This helps us save money on petrol. However she often finishes a quarter of an hour or half an hour late. So I always carry a book so that I can read while waiting. Although I do think that it is good to save money, I do prefer to be independent and drive my own car than having a lift.© ronaldinu 2008

I like being independent too, and would hate to have to share a car with someone (unless it was my husband). I know it's a good thing to car pool - saves on petrol and keeps lots of cars off the road - but I like to get places on time and leave when I'm ready without waiting around, and also, I wouldn't like to have to make conversation with someone whilst driving to work.

Hi ronaldinu I too would prefer to have my own car. I think it is great that it works for you and your wife but I would hate to have to rely on someone else for a lift, people have a habit of letting you down at the last minute and I don't do 'late' very well!! I try not to ever put myself in such a position!

Yeah, that way if you need to run someplace after work you don't have to get a lift home then go back to town you can just use your own vehicle. It would save time and money. I would take a book to read also..or to try to catch on on things like letters or list that need to be done.

My hubby drives his way to his office but my office but I only take a bus to my office which is quite far. It is not practical to bring a car so I prefer to save on gas and just take a bus which is anyway very convenient. I can sleep the whole time of travel. I don't go for a lift.

Hi ronaldinu, I don't drive only my husband does and most times he gives me lifts but if he is at work, I normally have to take a bus or get a taxi. Most times I walk. Tamara

I think it's super that you're doing this to save on gas! I understand your need to be independent, but, at the same time look at how well informed and educated you're becoming with all that reading! LOL! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

You sound a lot like me, I am a very independent, strong willed guy and I'd much rather cut my nose to spite my face than to accept help, I want to do everything for myself, and rely on no one but my self, unfortunately this isn't always possible, but I pride myself on paying my way and supporting myself and relying on just me! I don't use my car much but it's always there when I need it and I don't have to rely on others if I need to be somewhere.

There's nothing wrong in having a lift from ple, epsecially from your wife.. I think u belong to those egolistic type of man, whom sees it as embarassing to be driven around by your wife.. lol =D U can always take the wheel and send her to work first.. So in a way, u are not taking a lift from her, but rather she's taking a lift from u.. haha

Hi ronald, I have never been able to drive and am divorced also because of my health I cannot work, so whatever I do I do by public transport..it is nice to travel by car sometimes though it's a luxury...littleowl
