Now that they will not pay per review... just read the announcement a couple of minutes ago... and thought to myself... the admin is very smart... the strategy in making the site popular enough to garner a huge number of members is a good one... and now that they are not paying per review... for sure a lot will still stay loyal and will vie for that diamond award... I am a new member... and have not reached a payout yet... but i think i will check out what will happen in the coming weeks... Are you going to stay... or go away?...

Is it? They are not paying? But will they pay the earlier sums of money or not? Or are even that money is gone? I am still to read that info. on Ciao. But its hard - quite hard to belive tht they are not paying per review. OK. There work was to popularize the site, and its not wrong with anyone. But not paying for reviews and not paying for the hard work does not make any sense to me, atleast. But then, how are they going to keep the site going? They might surely have developed some other plans to keep Ciao going. Are you an active member there? Will the Ciaoers receive there money or not?

So, for those that are better writers, do they have a chance of being paid on several reviews? I mean, if more than one of a person's reviews makes it to the top 800, do they get paid for each review, or do they just get paid for the top one?

CIAO did not say that they will not pay the reviews. It only change their earning system, by opting the earning payment of $0.25 and changed it to Premium Fund. The best 800 reviews which were selected each month are the only reviews entitled to be paid the amount of $10. And, the First 5 best reviews will be paid for $20. Meaning, that, if your review is not good or not among of the best 800, you will not be entitled for payment. Therefore, your reviews definitely falls to trash or junk. That's why mostly of the Ciao members now were bit disappointed of the new released earning policy particularly those that does not have the good ability in writing or who is not in the writing profession. In fairness to CIAO, the new earning policy is beneficial to people who are in the writing profession and likewise beneficial to them because it determines who is the right reviewee deserved to be paid according to the "BEST SCHEME". Not only that, the policy is also an another means to reduce their population because as of these days, they have already that more than 2billion users worldwide which is very difficult for them to pay all these people even if the payment is only $0.25.

Ciao.com has a good traffic. I'm glad I was in Ciao and will continue to write if my friends will still be there to rate my reviews. I love reading their comments about my reviews if they like it or not, and in that way I can improve myself. I want to write and share to the world my opinion. It's like here in myLot. We only get 1 cent or a little more than that for this comment/discussion, but we are still here. What's the difference?

I guess a lot of those who earned well in ciao are a little disappointed with this new policy... since that will promote competition... and sometimes... competition is not alway healthy... but then... let us wait and see what will happen next... Thanks for the response...

I am currently logged on there... and read a few reviews that were very nice and helpful if i am looking for a product to buy... but there are still those that are just copied or senseless... i guess it will take quite a while to shoo away those nonsense reviews... Thanks for the response...

I guess so. I'm not a competitive person for one. But that's a good challenge for most of the people. As one Ciao member pointed out, it is to shoo away those who can only write senseless articles. It's pretty obvious that they are just there to earn and not thinking about the people (consumers) who are really seeking a worthwhile review. There are still lots of good writers in Ciao, and I love reading their articles. I just checked out Ciao today, and even though there's no more per review rate, you can see new reviews. So it means that they just want to write. ^^

In the meantime, I have to stay and to wait for another up dates since I have still my unclaim earnings which is more than $10. I do not know if my earnings will be affected by this new policy but I will still remain active in order to know more how the new policy works. I monitored my performance of earning every now and then when I am in Ciao. I've seen that all were reflected and increases according to my activity. I do not know these coming days, after the release of the new policy, how does the activity be computed and be compensated. If I found that the site is no longer beneficial to stay, then, I have to leave.

I plan to continue writing reviews on ciao. Hopefully this new system will weed out some of the copiers on the site and there were a lot of them. I have always enjoyed writing my reviews and we will still be paid on our ratings so as long as you write a good review and have friends who rate you then you should be alright.

I'm not going to stay because I don't write good enough to qualify for premium fund. So I'm going to find a new site that pays for every review.

i am a member of ciao but i only spent like less than an hour there because i just checked it out and i have to admit that $1 per review enticed me from the beginning but i really find it hard to write reviews for them so i left and decided that ciao is not for me...i am loyal to mylot even if it pays less because i am having fun in here...where in ciao it is more of a task...so now that they are not paying the more that i stay away from ciao..its really not for me.

At first... i also thought ciao was not for me... that is why i waited a long time before writing reviews... but when i slowly learned how to work the site... i am slowly enjoying my stay... it is really different from mylot... because members do not really need to talk or interact... that is why mylot is still the best site for me... Thanks for the response...

If they are not paying per review, then how are they paying now? I have seen several discussions about Ciao and how you get paid for reviewing products and services, but now that I see this discussion, I wonder how people are getting paid at this service. I haven't joined as of yet, and am on the fence now that you state this. Please tell me how they have their pay structure now that they aren't paying per review.

I actually found out how they will be paying from another member here in MyLot, and it actually inspired me to join. This is how they explain it on the site: Although the $0.25 per review incentive is gone, we think you’ll be very happy to learn about one of the new features, our Premium Fund. We’ll be distributing $2,000 USD to the writers of the best reviews on Ciao each month – about 800 reviews will be considered. Only opinions written in the previous month will be eligible. The first batch of reviews to be considered will be from this past November. The five best reviews will receive $20 each, and a diamond symbol will appear next to the review title What this means is simply this. The top 800 reviews written in a month get paid. The first 5 get $20 a piece, the rest get $10. Although I am mad at myself for not joining when they were paying just per review, I was encouraged to join with this new development because I feel this will cause people to step up their game in order to be in the 800, which is great for me, because I need to hone my skills in article writing anyway.

I am just a new member... and this new policy is still somewhat confusing for me... they say they will no longer pay per review... but they did not state if the other incentive programs will also be removed... we get extra when we get like a helpful and very helpful usefulness rating... so like i said with the others... wait and see... Thanks for the response...

This is indeed such a sad news; particularly for everyone who are members of that site. I personally admit that I'm also a member of Ciao. But I don't get to visit the site often. As I've previously mentioned in other discussions here, I still don't own a computer set so I'm only relying on the company's computer assigned to me here in the workplace. Needless to say, I only have a limited opportunity to surf the internet and earn online at the same time; due to the fact that internet access for personal purposes is strictly prohibited in the company. To date, I have four to five reviews made in Ciao and naturally, I still haven't reached the minimum payout of 5 dollars. So, if they have decided not to pay these reviews, I guess I'll have to terminate my irregular visits to that site. I just feel sad that I personally have lost one online earning opportunity; specially during a global economic crisis. Aside from this, I'm afraid that the company I'm working with for more than four years now is in the process of dissolution and perhaps by next year, I will be displaced from my job. So, I have no other choice but to double my efforts in earning extra as long as I still have my job now. I guess for a lot of people here including me, it will be best for us to concentrate on legitimate sites like mylot. Good luck and happy holidays.

I am so sorry about that... i also access the internet in the office most of the time... but there is no limitation because i am the only one in the office... and i get to take the laptop at home during weekends... of course with permission form my boss... Ciao still has some incentives left... in which we get paid for the usefulness ratings we get from our review... so check out your account and see if you already reached the $5 minimum payout... so that you can request it immediately... Thanks for the response...

That's a very bad news. Because I just start to be active in Ciao. Now this new rule discourages my activities in Ciao. Right now my balance is USD2.99 in Ciao. So I still keep writing reviews as I hope to reach the minimum payout so that I can request to pay. Hopefully they will change the rules again. I love China

That is such a nice compliment, but I do think I should let people who need the money go for those prizes. I really do prefer residuals to up-front payments anyway. Triond and AC continue to be my favorite writing sites, along with Squidoo. Have you tried Squidoo?

Hello aseretdd, I am not a member of this site but I heard about it from many members here. I am not sure whether I would like to try or not. I lost interest in all sites except MyLot. When MyLot announced that they are no longer using Moneybookers as a mode of payment, I have been thinking on how I can get my payment here as I never tried Paypal before. Even if it is not a big money most of the time, it is still money. It is not my first priority though but I thought many members who depend on Moneybookers only will disappear slowly. I was wrong. MyLot can still garner a lot more members. So, if you have interest in that site beside money, I think you should stay for a short while... maybe?

I am a member of Ciao.com for more than two weeks now. Since I enjoys the community, writing reviews and posting comments, I did not notice how hard it is to reach the minimum payout. I just saw on my earning are than I am over it. I think, if you enjoy what you are doing it will be easier for you. Let us accept that businesses do have strategies. Sometimes it is okay but most of the time not. Just enjoy and money will follows.

It was not a wise decision on the part of Ciao to totally forego of the per review rate. I mean, 99% of members are there for the money primarily -- you erase that reason and people will drop off. I am so sure of this one. There will be a dramatic fall of activities in ciao. However, all of these changes are already expected. I am not surprised of these changes at all. I am just annoyed that they have not waited the end of December for the implementation of the changes occurring now.

I think that is the plan from the very beginning... offer a very high rate per review to get a lot of members... and gradually remove it... some of those who enjoyed the site will surely stay... but those who are obviously just copying and ther just to earn mony will surely leave... I requested a payment yesterday and I logged into and found that there is an additional $2.xx balance in my account. I was loyal to the site and worked diligently everyday there. Indeed, I am not really sure of how to work at ciao anymore, but I think I am going to write 1 or 2 reviews there and explore it a bit. But I definitely won't spend hours to work there anymore.

I never signed up for this site, but I know that alot of people on mylot were also signed up wit Ciao. I am now happy that I chose not to sign up with them and to keep working for the review site that I have been writing for a long time. I feel bad because it seems that the site painted a great picture of what they would do for their writers, then decided to change it up. No doubt this change was to save the site money, but basically the site lied to you all from the beginning, and I dont think thats ok.

I am not staying for sure. i am extremely disappointed in the downward spiral the website has taken. And they even tried to deceive us by saying that we can earn more with the new changes when it's pretty obvious that we all earn less! Oh well. At least I already earned money from them for almost 2 months of work. Had I know this would happen, I would have posted like crazy while they still paid a dollar per review.
