Dry Skin - Any Home Remedies?

I have dry skin all year long, but in the winter it is alot worse and can even leave to my skin getting chapped which is very very painful. I always use lotion, but it never really seems to cut it, even the expensive lotions. Vaseline helps some, but I can't go around with grease all over me, so does anyone know of any good home remedies that maybe I could try? Thanks and Happy MyLotting!

Mix together 1 egg yolk, 1 tbspn of orange juice and olive oil, a few drops of lime juice and few drops of rose water. Use this mixture on the face in the morning 15 minutes before taking bath. Or... To make the dry skin smoother, peel and mash an avocado, then apply it to the dry skin. Wait a while before washing it with warm with warm water. Brightest Blessings.

You aren't using the lotion right. Most people don't. When you apply lotion to your body do it after bathing and before you dry yourself. You don't have to be sopping wet, but you should be damp. The lotion (moisturizer) holds in the water on your skin giving it an opportunity to benefit your skin. Someone mentioned drinking water, that's important too!

"Beat the yolk of an egg until it is light and frothy, then add the mashed pulp of a half avocado, blending it well (you may use a blender at this point). Cleanse your face thoroughly before using this masque (or any masque). Spread the avocado mixture over the face and neck evenly; relax on a slant board or bed for about 20 minutes. Remove with clear tepid water and a face cloth, followed by a rinse of cold water or a mild skin lotion. The result should be a marked improvement in skin texture, and all-around revitalizing." I just mixed up some oils last week for my dry, sensitive skin. So easy to make if you can get your hands on essential oils. I used grapeseed oil for the base oil and added 9 drops jasmine eo and 6 drops sandalwood eo. It smells so good! I even added a dropper full to my bath water and enjoyed the aroma. Grapeseed oil is a light oil and it is one highly reccomended for blends for skin. I make my own lotion too. I tried everything over the counter and I would have to reapply it several times a day. The main thing to remember is oils coat the skin and butters penetrate the skin. You need something that combines both. Something as simple as combining shea butter or cocoa butter, which you can buy at wally world, with coconut oil makes a big difference. You should be able to buy coconut oil at a pharmacy or natural market or herb shop.

hi if you have dry skin it is better to consult your dermatologist. its hard to rely on home remedies because it might cause allergens on your skin or worst it can cause complication on you. the best thing i think you should do is drink more than 8 glasses of water a day to avoid dryness of your skin.be happy and happy posting!

Olive oil helps, put on your face at night before bed and wash your face in the morning. That way it can really soak into your skin. You can do the same thing for a dry, itchy scalp. I have dry skin on my forehead but I still get spots on it so I don't want to use too much moisturiser. I have been washing it with natural soap and baking soda, I know it sounds discusting, but it does the trick. I do it at night before bed. My skin feels very tight and dry just afterwards when I go to bed but in the morning it's perfect. I've been doing this for about a week and it's working better than any expensive exfoliator. If you have really dry skin maybe try acupuncture, I know it sounds mad, but I've used it for EVERYTHING, so maybe it will work for you? Ring up and find out. I've never done it but there's a first for everything! Good luck!
