I really need some help here. Two of my email addresses are being used by certain people for spamming purposes. I only knew about it when I received return mails stating that the mail I sent could not be delivered. I never sent various emails promoting services and products to unknown people. The reply links were to other people or organisations. I fear the two email addresses would be blacklisted. Anyone has got any suggestion(s) on what should be done to prevent further use by spammers and to avoid being blacklisted? Any suggestion, as long as it sounds feasible, would be appreciated.

Change your passwords and set the security questions. In case if he already manage to change your password you can request a new password by using secuirty questions. Referal e-mail can also be helpful in this case

Thank you for your suggestions. I had already done them but it seems these spammers are at least one step ahead. Thank you for your response.

Do you know your password? If so, the first thing I would advise you to do is change it. Try to create a strong password, make it hard to guess, and maybe include numbers in it as well if you haven't already. The strength of a password is very important with any type of account. Next, think back and consider how the spammers may have gained access to your account. Have you visited any unsafe sites? Have you told your password to anyone? Scan your computer completely and try to locate a keylogger or anything of the kind if you think you have one. To prevent these things from happening, you need to trace back your steps and pinpoint how the spammers obtained your password, then block it completely. Hope you manage to solve the problem and this doesn't happen to you again. =P

I know my passwords and have changed several of them. Most of my passwords consist of alphabets, numbers and special characters. The passwords have not been given to anyone else, even to those who sent emails claiming my Internet bank accounts are to be blocked unless I divulge certain information to them. One possible cause is the visits that I made to sites related to online business. Actually the suspicion was there but several sites have changed the modus operandi, probably to gain the trust of people like me. I did contact one web based email service provider. They said there was nothing they could do. Thank you for your response. - rosdimy -

Thank you for your suggestion. One thing I am certain of doing is avoid joining certain sites. They may claim the email address given would not be sold but they did not claim of not intending to use it to spam other Internet users. Cut off access? Do you mean Internet access? Can you give me a suggestion? Currently I am using the router's firewall with ping disabled and Zone Alarm on the PC. Yet my PC has been hijacked several times by users from various countries. Last night it was from a country with +2.00 GMT Thank you for your response.
