Day of Infamy!

United States

Today is December 7th. I propose that we set some time aside in our busy lives to remember the attack on Pearl Harbor. This attack took the US into a war that had already gripped most of the world. We would have joined in the war even if we had not been attacked, the attack just mobilized the country faster. I salute the US veterans who suffered through this attack and how they roared back and showed great resilance to keep the US in the war until the industrial might of this country could be turned to the effort. I went to a Pearl Harbor Day memorial a few years back in Hawaii. It was facinating to hear the stories of both US and Japanese who were involved in the attack. It also shows that time does heal all wounds; even though the scars are visible, there is no sting left.

Not to offend but, we need to stop looking at this, and just go on with life. and if we must look at this, we should learn from it, now make something about remembering it, because remembering and showing respect will do nothing.

I understand that some people do not have a sense of duty or honor. But the veterans of WW II fought for 5 years continually, taking heavy casualties to liberate most of the world from Nazi-ism or Japanese Imperialism. Although the world that was left was not perfect, they turned around and contained the USSR and re-built Europe and Japan. They didn't do it alone; they had allies and the homefront. But it is December 7th and I was talking about Pearl Harbor Day. I think that it is short-sighted not to learn history. Remembering and showing respect means everything, because those that do not rember history are doomed to repeat it. And when it is repeated, you'll need guys like the veterans to bail you out.
