Is my lot dying?

I don't remember when was the last time I was at my lot. On checking my payment history, I realized that the last time I got a payment was back in september 2007. That was the time when I would answer discussions such as "will you ever leave my lot". My answer would almost always be "never". But then I got a job, and I barely ever checked back. Although I do remember quite a few fun days, when I would be at my PC for upto 10 hours straight riding away. That was back in the day, when my lot was upto a million members, or close at least. Now that I have come back to pay it a visit, I find just a 150,000 members. Well, I'm in need of some extra change so here I am, but seeing the numbers and the discussions, I'm feeling "Is my lot dying"? Is there really anyone out there, who has been here for as long as I have and is still religiously discussing away?

Hi there vega, I also find that Mylot has changed a lot in the last year. I was more active in the fall of 2007 and like you got a job and didn't have much time for online stuff. And when I finally have gotten into the swing of things and got back here I found it to be very different. One really really big difference for me is that there are a lot less people from North America and many many more from Asia and other areas. I think it makes it harder for me to find discussions that I understand or can relate to. I don't know about foreign politics, culture, or arts. Other discussions, it is clear that english is a second language or even has been computer translated from another language and I don't know what is being said. I think it is because paypal opened up to more countries and that is why more different countries are now on here. It is great they are here, but I would also like to see more discussions on topics I also feel.

I too have come across the problem of finding enough discussions that peak my interest and that I can contribute in a meaningful way. I realize that I haven't been here very long but I have lately had a lot of time to spend here since my truck broke down. I've tried to remember if I have seen your name on comments or discussions that I've visited. I would be very happy to comment on any discussions that you start. I have started a few discussions myself. I thought a couple of them should have been interesting. When they didn't get a lot of interest I started experimenting with topics trying to see what everyone wanted to talk about. I haven't figured it out yet though. But every few days I feel like I should at least try to start a discussion on some topic I hope will interest others as well.

Yeah, that does make sense to me. I too was browsing yesterday, my first day back, and found that the topics have changed significantly since the last time I was on here. No one from my friend list is active anymore, and the really deep discussions seem to be very close to extinction. Well, hopefully, my lot can still be revived.

It seems as though this question has been posed more than once already: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1079657.aspx http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1221253.aspx http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1312984.aspx Nobody mentions 1 million members. The first post, 2 years ago, states that the last time the question was asked there were only 60,000. The others seem to mention the 100,000 member mark.

Yeah, yeah, I know the rule, search for similar discussions before you start new ones. But I gotta admit, that takes a while, now that you've made your point really clear, I guess I would do that before I start any other discussions, and let's just forget about the one million, i was obviously way off the mark.

well, I do see some good discussions around. Although, to tell you the truth, the hottest discussions of the day were always full of good content. I guess it's both, you have the good and the bad always.

I don't always do a search first either. The search function doesn't always work perfectly anyways. You can spend a ton of time searching and still miss posts because how is anyone to know the exact wording of every thread title. I am sure that we can discuss the merits of the question without focusing on the exact number of members on myLot. I tend to think, that if nothing else, at least the quality of posts are getting better.

Membership and participation on any site is going to rise and fall as time goes on but the fact that Mylot has stayed around for so long is testiment to it's viability. I've been here for over 8 months and have always enjoyed reading the discussions and posting here. I have never had a problem finding discussions that I can relate to, regardless of what time of day or night it is.

Hi friend,Mylot will never die my friend, because mylot is the site which is very legit and loved by all.At present I agree that the activities are lessening ,thats because we found a fast earning site and got carried away for a while. But everyone realised that mylot is the only site which doesn't change its programmes often even it is a low earning site.So am sure that mylot would certainly survive and there is no end for mylot. thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.

Well, I gotta hand it to you there, you're right, it is one of the very few legit sites, that still pays out. And true, you don't earn that much, but it still is interesting in some ways, I guess a lot of people who thought they would make a lot more money opted out soon, when they found out otherwise.

I only come here occasionally, once or twice a week, to see if there is anything interesting to talk about or maybe help someone with a problem. I don't care about the getting paid because I don't have the time to sit and type for hours to make a few cents. I doubt mylot is dying, because people will always want a place to vent their problems, ask a question or just waste a little time.

You make a good point my friend, I guess forums never do die. At least the moderated ones. I always found discussions here to be wholesome. Though I've never shared a lot of my serious problems ( I have other venting methods), I have often found myself try to lend a helping hand, and maybe in some cases it would even have been helpful for someone.

Well, apologies, as you might have read my comment in one of the responses above, that might have been a bit of an exaggeration on my part. I wish I could edit my original post, but I don't think they've introduced that button yet.

Hi, Vega, Nice to hear from you again. Hope you've been well and work has been OK (I remember you were never sold on the idea of a real job). I seldom log on to myLot, but I was notified by email that you had started this discussion - the first in nearly a year. myLot just seems much less fun that it seemed at first. But that's maybe just me. If it's dying, perhaps they need to increase their pay out. In the current economy myLot should be more popular then ever (although I've never been active enough to get a single pay out). Actually, I didn't know you could leave myLot, just ignore it. I would have probably left a while back..

Hey, finally a familiar face! That's nice to see, and it's so great of you to turn notification on for me, I'm flattered. Well, my friend, it's true, I was never sold on the idea of a real job, but that was before I got the job I did. I'm an assistant to the founder of a major martial arts school, and am very soon to be a brown belt kickboxer. If you get those kind of perks with a job, then I'm sold!

This self-funded e-social network, myLot, seemingly never die and will be more stronger. Especially these times of global economy slump where more people gonna be jobless, so where they are gonna hooked at?. Yes your heart's answer is perfectly correct. They will be at myLot and a dime no more a dime, their mindset will change them to 'penny earn dollar save'. So what else to say, we can enjoy here too. In-out and out-in of members at any e-social networking is a common thing and a normal activity.

I understand how you feel because I felt the same way before. I became an inactive member for few months and when I tried to come back, my account was no longer existing. So I made a new one which I checked on once in awhile. I am no longer as religious as I used to but I make it sure to drop by once in awhile.

Well, now that I think about it, I might have exaggerated a bit, my bad... But I'm pretty sure, that it was a huge number of members, probably a lot more of those hundred thousands than there are now. You seem to have been here long too, judging from your number of posts, so enlighten me please, what was the highest number at my lot.

I've only been on MyLot a few months, but it seems to me that the place is buzzing along quite nicely. When you say it used to have a million members, what proportion of those would you say were active? MyLot pays out, and it's well enough moderated so the discussions don't degenerate into flame wars and mass spamming, so - assuming it's finances are OK - I don't see any reason for MyLot to die. Just the opposite, if anything, it has the potential to really grow and maybe expand into other areas of internet commerce.

Very well thought out response. I guess I felt the way I did, because I couldn't find any active members that used to be on my friend list, but I guess they have been replaced by new more active mylottians.

Since vega83 hasn't been on myLot much recently, perhaps the 1,000,000 number is just off by a factor of 10 - perhaps it was really at or close to 100,000 members. That would closely match up to the numbers others (who have been here far longer than I) remember. Seems like an innocent mistake - just accidentally added a zero. :)

i'm new to mylot. i didn't know mylot was in existence for so long. maybe it is dying out. i didn't know there were once almost a million mylotters. where have they all gone?? Maybe they all got tired of the site and go jobs like you did. Hey, look at the bright side they're going to be new mylotter(like me) who never hear of mylot and who are very mush addicted to the sites.

Hi there, I probably can't give you the most accurate answer but I wanted to respond as I am amazed to hear that were 1 million members at some point!! Wow! In addition I haven't been here that long but I am really enjoying using this website, I think it provides a really creative way of earning a bit of extra money. And I do see people with thousands of posts that regularly seem to be responding on here. I hope MyLot doesn't 'die' - I think it'd be a real shame.

Again, I'm sorry, that "one million members" comment was way out of proportion, I don't blame you for your reaction, but for the life of me, I can't remember the exact number it was, I wanna say a number, but I'm afraid I'd be wrong again, and will have to come up with a lot more explanations :)

Well, I have been an active member in here for over 2 yrs. now, and I am not going anywhere. Yes, there might be times I am not as active as others, but I still seem to find time when I can and usually will still reach payout in here each month with No problem. I think this site comes and goes who is active here, and what is going on. There are days when it does not seem as active as others but usually when I have time to be in here, I easily find discussions I am interested in responding back too. It just always depends on what you are interested in responding back too as well.

We've all had rough patches like these, I guess. I too came across them. But a quick time out from the site, and once you're back, there's still a lot to do. For example, I came back here only yesterday, and wrote down what I felt in the original post, but now after seeing how this discussion has taken off and all the great responses that I can actually comment on, I'm already shifting my view.

Hi Vega83, According to everyone else, MyLot has never been up to 1,000,000. Maybe you just remember it wrong.....added a couple of zeroes in your memory. I discovered MyLot a few weeks ago and at first I wasnt' too sure about it but now that I am over the $5.00 mark and closing in on my first $10 payout, I'm kind of liking it. Thanks for the discussion! Happy MyLotting!

instead I went back on mylot from 2 years! I earned about 20 $ in the past...but it were so much time I didn't come here! Now I will try to begin writing again here...I hope it will pay me more than before..because I noticed it was so difficult to earn money on here! I remember there where many members than 154381?? People was afraid of the fast myLot growing! Then it stopped in these 2 years I didn't come on mylot....What's happened? I hope I will continue being active here..I miss a bit writing here but I have found many methods of earning more money easily than writing on here!

Keep at it, princesskitten, you'll reach the 10 $ payout, and the best part is you will actually see the money. And opteron, hallelujah, someone else at least remotely agrees that the members were more than the current ones. I was really beginning to doubt everything I said, I still think I was wrong to say one million, but still...

I just found MyLot, and so far I like it. I am now working from home and one of the biggest problems with that is having no one to talk to. So I like the variety of discussions... the extra change is just a plus. I presume that membership got so high because word got out about MyLot for whatever reason and people thought they were going to get rich... and quickly fell away. So Vega83 stick around and enjoy the bonus $$ for doing what you enjoy doing anyway

I guess you do have a point. Well, I'm not gonna lie, I was in it for the money too, although I knew that it was definitely not a get rich quick scheme. And I stuck around for so long, because I actually enjoyed my time here. I guess that's why I'm here. Don't get me wrong, I still have a job, but I got a few days off, so decided to try some of my old interests.
