Women : which gift would offend you more?

lets say your significant other decided to buy you clothes for christmas. would you be more offended/embarrassed by that person buying you a bra that was a cup size too big or a nighty that was too small?? on one hand the too big bra would be embarrassing if you were small chested and that person wanted to see you try it on and you know it wont fit.. but then who would want to receive a nighty that have to squeeze themselves into like a sausage because their lover thought they were a few sizes smaller?? that i would think would be embarrassing also!! so which would you rather have happen to you??

Honestly I wouldn't be embarrased by either. I would think that he took the general man's train of thought..."this looks like it will fit". You know the commericals that you see when the man asks someone in the store whats your size, my girls is about your size...they just don't know that they can easily look at one of the items that you already have...

actually, i wouldn't have to worry about either situation happening. not because he wouldn't buy those things, but because he knows my sizes, and for the most part doesn't buy me clothes. you'll like this........the one nighty he bought me, i had just been living in the northeast for a little over a year, moving here from the south. he was very thoughtful lol bought me a 'one size fits all' lol (pretty safe lol) long, warm, night shirt, but it did have snowmen on it, and that is why he bought it lol he knew i liked snowmen. he did buy me house shoes one time, i have small feet, and he did buy a small, a man's small lol, so those had to be exchanged lol

lol i cant believe he got you mens sizes lol.. me and my hubby dont buy each other gifts on bdays and holidays and anniversary we just give each other money but he does buy me things here and there and is always good about what he picks.. we stopped exchanging presents mostly because of me.. i am the worst person to figure out what to get anyone.. and he is impossible since he likes books and games.. well i dont know what he does or doesnt have and games he will beat within 2 days so.. lol

Being fairly large chested I've had to explain to hubby the importance of a well fitting bra. Thankfully he understands so would never assume he could buy a bra for me. He has excellent taste in lingerie and has bought a few very nice pieces for me. His taste is more to the elegant flowing type and not the skin tight fitted type so we've never had a problem with fit. If he decided to buy me something a bit more fitted he would be smart enough to ask me to go shopping with him. Strictly going by your scenario, I wouldn't be embarrassed at all. I'd be fuming angry!

I did have to tell him to quit buying them though! Since they're only worn for about a minute I consider them a waste of money...

i would be embarrassed that someone i was closed to didnt know my actual size, whether it was too small or big. they should know better or not buy any clothes.

maybe it was psychic connections...she somehow new about your future and where it will go...and something told her to buy it big for some reason...they always say, everything happens for a reason... i remember when i was little i wanted a lunchbox but my mother wouldnt buy me one. all of the sudden, when i was 10 or 11, i get one from an aunt in california, who didnt know i wanted one, and i havent seen since i was 4. i think she sent it for either christmas or my bday. i cant remember. i think it is all spiritual...some kind of spiritual connection...if something is meant to happen, it will happen no matter what...

Really, that's a good thing if he sees a tiny nighty and thinks it would fit you! It means he doesn't see you as a big girl and thought it would fit. Yeah, I wouldn't try it on if I knew it was too small, but that's flattering in my book! I've seen how guys think! They approximate a lot and like others were saying, they'll ask "well, what size is that?!" Hell, I do the same thing! I had no idea how to buy swim trunks for men, but my boyfriend and I were heading to the lake! I stopped some random guy and asked him! Luckily, I at least know my guy's pant size, so he could help me from there! Neither item would be embarrassing to me. I'd think it would embarrass my guy more, honestly!

my mom swears that the more expensive the clothes the smaller the sizes are marked.. which kind of makes sense because there is no WAY me at 5'7 117lbs is twice the size of like britney spears or anyone in hollywood for that matter!!

Haha! Yeah, no joke! A size "5" means anywhere in between "You're never squeezing that *** in here!" and "Really?! Are you trying to swim in these?!"I swear they don't have a standardized size chart for women! Swimming trunks are the only time I've ever really had trouble with men's clothing because "Medium" had no sizes for comparison.

I'd rather have an oversized bra. At least I could give it away, though I suppose I could do that with a small nightie as well. I admit that I would like it if my significant other thought I was smaller than I am.

neither situation has happened to me but I'd be mighty embarrassed in either. I'm sure I could tell by looking at the nighty if it were too small and I'd just not even attempt it. As for the bra...a guy would have to be insane to attempt to buy something like that without being very sure of the size.

There is no gift that can offend me.Even the cheapest thing. The fact that you have been remembered is the most important thing.Don't just get offended when your significant other buy you an over sized bra.It just show that he still have the sense of humor making you laugh.Or maybe he is curious to see how you look in that over sized or under sized nighties.Don't take it as offensive gesture.A gift is still a gift no matter what.Just enjoy.

*LOL* Preferably, neither. Hubby has tried several times to get me personal items. Something he doesn't seem to understand is just because the tag on the bra has the right size on it, that doesn't mean it is going to fit. I have to try them on. I really don't think I would be offended by either. I would just give him a big kiss, smile and say thank you, then return either or both, for ones that fit.

i cann tell yo one thing as a man that if i love a girl and want to buy some thign for her, a Bra or a nighty, I will know the excact size and there is no question fo buying a size small or a size large. I know the exact size fo bra my wife wears and i know what size of nighty to buy for her. i have always bought her bras and nighty for her and she has not had a problem even once. infact she likes my buying it as i buy better quality and she goes in for cheaper costs. So i am not likely to make such a mistake.

I don't think either would offend me, it's the whole thought that counts so I would just be happy he thought to even get me something like that. My man usually likes to pick out my under pants and I think that is so neat of him. I think he has good taste too. He usually asks my size before he buys me anything, which is really smart so that way we dont run into that problem.

Ahhh if my bf brought my clothes for xmas it would be a miricale and i would be so happy that he ventured into a lingerie shop that I wouldn't care what size it was or how ghastly the colour! If I had to pick though, I'd be upset if I was given a nighty that was too small because i'll already majorly depressed about my weight!

I rather find this funny than embarrassing. A bra that is too big for me or a nightie that is too small for me is a rather hilarious image I could conjure upon myself. However, I know and accept that I am rather not much endowed, so the uber huge bra would be a laughing matter. Wishful thinking, we say. On the other hand, a small nightie which I would need to squeeze into in order to fit would be not very much offensive. If your lover does not know what size you really are, then maybe he wants you better raw than dressed.

To be honest, the fact that he even thought about me to buy me a gift, will far outweight all the other issues about whether the bra is bog or the nighty is too small. As they say it is not the gift, but the thoughts that counts. Some men probably won't even bother buying anything, so I would be mightly glad my SO bought me something and we can always laugh about it afterwards.

I feel that I can speak with some authority on this. Well half of it. A too small nighty must surely just be a pain, like any other clothing that is too small. I'd plump for the bra. That said, I think that most women would be grateful that he'd had the b*@@s to go by those things in the first place!
