Yesterday i posted saying our little dog was lost/stolen and today...We got her back.
It turned out that a neighbour's relative (the only neighbours we couldnt get ahold of yesterday) that isnt local had seen her and took her to their house not knowing our house was really close. They thought someone had dumped her.
We found out by..My sister took lost papers to church with her and the reverend made copies and handed them out. Some people took them home. The neighbours daughter was visiting one of these other families and said I've this dog - its at our house. They phoned and we got our dog back.
I'm glad she wasnt really stolen...or dead and so very very very happy we got her back. My eyes and head and face kinda hurt today from crying so much last night I'm all out of tears to cry in happiness.
To make this a discussion...Have you ever gotten a lost/stolen/missing pet back?

We got our first ever doggie last year and so far, she hasn't gone missing just yet (knock on wood and everything else!).
I am glad you've found your precious little doggie. I don't know how I would be if I lost this little lady I have here next to me.

It;d be sad. My family has had rosie for 5 years, Murray for 4 years. I have one of their pups at my house and shes 3. As well i have my childhood dog - hes 17 - getting VERY old WE got him as a pup and had him that long and I'm worried we'll have to put him down soon due to cancer. So i got a Husky in september to protect my cows and horses.
I know between the two houses its a lot of dogs but...we love them and they're well cared for. We also have a variety of cats. It seems here lots of people on the farms have one or two larger dogs and a small dog.

Hello, Saundyl!
I am glad you could get your dog back. Sometimes, a pet means so much to us! It is like if they were a family member for us. The consideration, the affection we have for it might be as strong as the affection we feel for a human. How have you thanked the person who returned the dog? Did you pay him/her or something like that? Or did you return the favor by doing something to help that person?
I had a dog before this one. He used to love going on the streets alone. My family never allowed our animals to run freely in the streets, since it is unethical if the animal starts dirtying the places around. Therefore, the only time he had to go to the street alone was when he escaped. But I always chased him while he was running and managed to get him back (he was small, so he couldn't run as fast as I do). One day, though, he escaped. I was around 10 years old by that time. I got desperate, because I didn't see which direction he took. My mother told me to wait until my father came home, and we'd look for the dog with our car. And we waited. When my father arrived, he took me to a tour in the neighbor, looking for the dog. We looked everywhere near our house. We went a little bit far too, but we found no traces. I got really sad. When I came home, it was already night. I started crying helplessly. I believe I never cried so much in my life like on that day. I cried all my tears out, and I cried, and cried... And I tried to keep me busy by playing video game, but I kept on crying the whole night.
The morning after, I woke up and went with my mother to search for the dog. We looked, looked and nothing. Oh, that was sad. I couldn't believe I had lost my best friend. That dog meant so much to me! How I loved the little old fella. We didn't find a trace, and I was pretty sad. I was sad the entire day. It was like if I couldn't smile nor anything. On the next day, I went looking with my mother too. We couldn't find anything. We were returning, and when we looked to the avenue, there was a large amount of dogs running. And there he was, following other dogs! The old fella was there, chasing another dogs and being with them. I felt so happy to have finally found him, but my mother was saying pretty bad words about him: "While we are looking for him, that mother***ker is there, enjoying his time". We took him home. I finally was happy again. I don't know if we should have taken him home, he was so happy. But we did.
Wow, what a story. How many memories! Unfortunately, a few years later we went to a vet and asked him to kill our dog. He was ill and blind, deaf, could barely stand and had a tumor. We would suffer if he kept on living. =/
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

I havent talked to the person my mom did. I found out she was home when i got home about 20 minutes ago. They've had her home for about 2 hours now. She was gone for almost 36 hours.
I'm so glad that you found your dog. It's hard to lose a dog at anytime. I'm sorry you lost him later on. We have an older cockerspaniel - hes 17 years old and we are worried he's going to pass away soon.

It is sad to lose a dog. Knowing that an animal that you have raised and cared, and loved... Knowing that animal is passing away is hard. That's why we must enjoy every moment we can by their side.

I am so glad you found here. I was worried thinking of a little dog lost in the snow. It is so good to know she is safe and ok. I wonder if the truck scared her and when she ran away from that she got lost.
It is very easy to get lost in snow as everything looks the same.

I was worried too. I was scared we'd never see her again or that the propane guy had hit her and didnt want to admit to his error and just hid her from us...or that something had gotten her - like a coyote. In all honesty i was hoping someone had stolen her and then at least she was alive and there was a chance we'd find her alive.
I laid awake last night worrying about her and crying. I cried more when we got her back, i hope we dont lose her again.

thank goodness!! well if you have land i think it would be ok to let them run loose.. if they are out door animals and like it and want to be outdoors all the time.. i think it wouldn't be right to tie them up if there was no danger and they have plenty of room..

I'm so happy you got your dog back. Its so sad and scary when they disappear. When I was a little girl I had a dog who was an escape artist, so she often went wandering. Well one night she didn't come home, next night either. We were so worried. Finally our vet called and said someone had turned her in. Their story was that they said they accidentally hit her with their car (which the vet said was untrue) and they thought they would bring her in for treatment since the vet's ID tag was on her collar. It seems they thought they could keep her for themselves, and then later felt guilty over it and turned her in.

Awe I am so happy to hear that you got your dog back. Yes I remember when my dog Sundance was lost. We looked for days for her, then finally she was found. I was just a child at this time and I was so happy I cried for two days. I loved that dog.

Saundyl I am glad that you got your little dog back. I hope that you have put her on a lead now! :) I hope that it serves a lesson to every one of us here. I hate the idea that owners keep their dogs wondering about even if it is a safe area. A dog might get lost or else chew a plant which an be poisonous to him. © ronaldinu 2008

That is so good that you got your dog back. I wouldn't know what to do if one of my 3 dogs ran away or was missing. It's giving me chills just thinking about it.

Chills...i know that feeling.
The last Dog we lost was actually we had to put her down because she was in a great deal of pain and her medications for her cancer werent helping her...she was 14 years old and the mate to the male cocker spaniel whos 17 that i have.
Cat's we've lost our barn cats but we arent near as attached to the wild kitties as we are the dogs or the couple house kitties my sister has.

You are very lucky , and I am so happy you have her back
such good news ! I am a huge animal lover , and would go crazy if i lost my rayray . she has ran away before , but usually i see her get away , and she will just circle the block , and that scares me , because she just dont get cars at all .
My uncle had a dog run away once, and one week later he just showed up , and no one knew where he was . pup seemed fine , but little dirty
must of been in woods or something !

Hello saundyl,
Glad to hear you got your little dog back! The closest I've ever come to something like that was earlier this year when I lost my cell phone. I didn't know I'd lost it though.
While I was driving, my friend's phone started ringing and she said, "Your phone is calling me." I told her to answer it to see what it wanted and it was a couple of guys who had found my phone and called the last number I had dialed (my friend, right before I picked her up). We met at a gas station and they gave me my phone back. Not as exciting as your lost dog story, because I didn't even know my phone was missing so there was no stress.
Happy MyLotting!
