Okay I am not crazy, I am just on Dayquil.

Has this ever happened to you?
I swear by Dayquil when I have a head cold. Especially when I am working because I cannot function with a stuffy head and itchy throat and eyes...you get the picture, plus why would any of my residents want to take meds from me sneezing, and yeah you get the picture. So I am a Dayquil girl during these moments. I do not get any odd side effects from it except...
I act like I am on speed or something. I think it is the diphehydramine in it. I know I cannot take Benadryl which I found out long ago thatDayquil has this very same ingredient in it...and Bam it all came into focus. It's not dangerous because I can still think and all that. And usually when I am sick I talk out of my head so to speak, but this is just hilarious. Today, I was busy as heck. I was running around got my work done and then started doing little extras--Oh yeah did I mention I get a little OCD from it also. I was in our break room and opened the fridge well the butter door thing was open, I saw it open this morning and it bothered me a little...well at lunch I could not stand it anymore and had to shut it. I am not like this usually...ever. Except on Dayquil.
So I took full advantage of it...came home and cleaned house...and it was crazy cleaning and super thorough too all within 2 hours. I felt like Magda off of Something about Mary. I even told people do not talk to me today because I will talk your head off...and here I am writing my fingers off.
And now it is time for the Nyquil...LOL
So do you react to any cold medicines this way? Or am I alone?

I like dayquil and nyquil both. The dayquil don't do that to me though, but nyquil will make me, who is a very light sleeper... anything wakes me up.. a whisper will wake me up, sleep through anything. It's like I go into a coma or something. I only take it when I'm really sick and can't sleep no matter what I do. My mom can't take any kind of strong pain medicine. she sees herself up cleaning house, when she's on the couch stretched out and she talks out of her head. I guess it's good that she's not into pain meds... cause she'd never last.... She gives herself lectures about how she needs to calm down and take it easy. she hallucinates that she's ocd. LOL! as long as you are actually up doing the cleaning i guess you are ok, but if it's just an illusion that you are.. you might want to stop taking it.

yeah that would be a problem LOL
But no I was not hallucinating...in fact I was exhausted so tired I could not sleep. And today i am just taking it easy.
But I will again take the dayquil for another day of cleaning tomorrow...I am off all day and i got plans haha
thanks for responding.
Ps I cannot take anything stronger than Alleve, or tylenol or I am really out of whack pain med wise. I took muscle relaxers once for my back and I know people looked at me like I was nuts.

"The Adventures of Taface", I'm not a medicine taker but I'm all Advil after a long day of running around. Sounds like you've got a little bit of a jones for that Dayquil stuff, I guess if the only side effects are a humorous story on myLot then you should be okay. Can't wait for the next time you take it. :)

Hey I am on the last leg of it right now. And it occurred to me today that when I am tired I usually take a b-12 well...now i know I just need the day quil.
And I am sure I will be taking it tomorrow as well...it's gonna be an interesting Mnday i am sure.

I've never tried Dayquil but I can't wait for my next cold! 
My husband swears by it, too, but he's a Viet Nam vet with PTSD and arthritis so he's on so much medication already it's hard to believe anything he says.

This is the stuff to have on hand when you have a d cold...and you do not get medicine head I swear. And one else I knowof acts like I do on it, or at least they do not admit to it.
So give it a try.
