Oh, this was a definitely a smack me on the head I am so stupid moment! But, I wasn't alone so I didn't feel as stupid as I should have. Yesterday I went to the store to buy the rest of the stuff I needed to make up cookies for the cookie exchange this week. I love the kind that my mom always makes, I've never had anything like them before. So, I'm in the store (not my normal grocery store btw) and I get the cream cheese then head to the baking aisle to get the sugar, flour, food coloring, and red and green sprinkles. I came across the sprinkles first and was about to get them when all I saw were the red ones, no green sprinkles. I figured well, maybe they're with the holiday stuff so I keep looking. I go down the entire aisle, looking at EVERY thing there. I saw no green sprinkles. So I go back to the red ones and know that if I stare at the red ones long enough then the green ones will appear. I mean, c'mon, they HAVE to have green sprinkles! Well, apparently this girl standing beside me was thinking the same thing and probably after a minute of looking, I reach up to see if maybe the green are behind the red, and the girl goes "Oh!" and when I look down, we're practically standing on this basket in the aisle - it's actually in our way - that has TONS of green sprinkles in it! How we could have both overlooked it I have no clue. I mean we had to walk around it - I did twice - to try to look on the shelf. Yeah, we felt a bit stupid, but it was fun laughing about it! I have no idea why the store was hiding the green ones!!!

Hey reiny! That's funny! I know that I've had plenty of those kinds of moments in the grocery store aisles! I swear I do think the same way! Like if you stand there long enough whatever it is you are looking for will magically appear! And sometimes it does! I was looking for Cinnamon Sticks right before Thanksgiving. I looked everywhere and couldn't find them. I was in the right place in the spice aisle. Then another woman came and was looking for them too. We were both really upset because we wanted them for our Apple Cider! So we asked the Produce Guy and he looked and couldn't find them either. So we both left the aisle upset. I was about one aisle away and the Produce Guy found me and gave me a bottle of Cinnamon Sticks! He had found them somehow! They were there all along, but the three of us looked and didn't see them anywhere! So I know what you mean! Glad you found the green sprinkles. Now can you pm me that recipe! I would love to try to bake those cookies! I haven't made Christmas cookies in years and I don't have any recipes! If they aren't too hard to make I will try to do them! And I won't really know if I screw them up since I don't really know what they are supposed to taste like!

Actually, the recipe is very simple, but you do need a cookie press. The old-fashioned kind that turns works better than the ones that have the squeeze trigger on them (but they do work). I'll pm you if you're not having problems with the pm - did they get that fixed for ya???

Oh no! I don't have any cookie presses! I never baked any cookies to press! I can get some, but they won't be anything like you describe! I've seen those kinds that you just push in the dough. Is that ok? I can get PM's, I just can't send them! I have your addy, as long as it's still the same, in case I have some questions! I'll be going shopping on Friday so let me know what I need! I would love to bake this weekend!

I kind of agree with Transdisc. I think they did it just so you could make a post in this interest today.*L* I hate when I can't find something, then someone comes in right behind me, reaches over and picks it right up. I usually do a mental head smack at that point, pick up whatever it is, drop it in my basket and try not to be too obvious about the fact that I couldn't find what was right in front of my face.

I was getting ready to go to another store! It was so funny that we had to about fall over them to find them. You know the security people are going to have fun with that tape :)

I've done thinhgs along this line myself. The item was not where you expected it so you did not look on the floor for it. I stared in my fridge in the past for butter. Well duhhh look inm the tray marked butter dummy. I do this often even looking for milk. I glance right past it beause it isn't where I put it the last time I used it so there wasn't any in the fridge as far as I could see. HAHAHA! Just 2 examples of my "blindness." HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That is a time when you could not see the forest for the trees. heehee. They say if it was a snake it would have bitten you. I say to them if it was a snake I would have seen it.

Well at least your cookies turned out beautiful. What I really hate is going through the whole thing you went through, then ask an employee where the item is and find I passed it 3 times while I was looking. It just didn't make sense that it would be where it was!

Thanks! These are my favorite cookies :) I did the same thing for my Thanksgiving turkey. I looked and looked and looked. Then I asked the guy if they had any 20 lb turkeys and he pointed to the closest one in front of me. Yeah, I felt like an idiot!

Yeah they must of been hiding them as the staff need them for their cookie exchanges too and where not putting them on the selves. Well you missed them as you would never really expect them to be on the floor. I am glad you got what you where looking for in the end and I hope your cookie exchange goes well. Happy cookie making.

Thanks :) What's really sad though is I didn't really need either red or green sprinkles because I had plenty at home! I didn't check before I went to the store so I was buying it just in case. Now it'll sit until I make cookies again - a couple more years!

sounds like somebody hadn't got round to restocking the shelves, they'd got as far as sticking the basket there but didn't bother to go any further.

I wonder how many people didn't see it at all and went somewhere else for them? That coulda been a costly mistake.

It's funny because you just know it's there, why can't you see it?? That drives me crazy!
