I Truly Hope Prs. Elect Obama is Fully Eligible to be President...

I would hate to even imagine the nightmare we all will be forced to endure if it turns out he isn't. I encourage those who are working to establish the facts one way or another, but as of December 15th Barack Obama will most likely be elected by the Electoral College and he will be sworn in on January 20th. He will take office and be the 44th president of the United States.
I wish him nothing but success because this country is more important than any president or party and I won't wish harm or problems on us all just because I don't like who is in the White House. I will continue to support him when he does things I agree with, and oppose him when I think he is wrong. He is the commander in chief and I am a retired NCO. I've took the oath of enlistment under presidents I liked as well as presidents I didn't like... I didn't serve the president, I served the United States of America....
That's all I can do.
Unless something new comes out about his eligibility, this is the last article I'll post about it.

i think there is a lot that has to be measured in a president. and i believe not one true candidate is right for a job so big and important. i dont agree nor disagree with what you said. i dont agree nor disagree about whom should get in. we should all support our president though yes...because not only does it show our own colors, but it shows we will take that step toa new a future.
life is going to happen either way.
but question? what would happen if they do not allow him from the issue that is occurring currently? would it carry over to the vice? or what?

I was wondering this myself, would it go to the Biden who got in on Obamas coatails or would it got to the guy who got the second most votes which would seem to go against the will of the people.
I thinks something like this happened with one of the kentucky elected positions over a residency issue, and they had a special election to fill the spot, but I just can't imagine a special Presidential election.

As near as I can figure, neither Obama nor Biden would be able to stay in office because Biden was the pick of someone ineligible to run in the first place. However, we do have a line of succession that would still be intact, so it would go to (heaven forbid ;~D) Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.
But that is just a guess since a case could be made just as easily that the entire 2008 election was bogus since Obama had no business being in the race in the first place.
But worse yet, think of all the decisions and actions that he would make that would become null and void. Think of the reaction of all the people who insist it doesn't matter and he should be allowed to finish his term anyway. Think of the reaction of all the people who insist the Constitution be upheld.
That is why I say it would be a horror if it turns out he isn't eligible. For the sake of our Constitution and our Republic, I hope he is.

government will be government i guess...i mean it is mostly the electoral votes that matter as far as I have seen ( look at the al gore/bush election ...only won because of electorals even though al gore had more populus votes.
but if Nancy becomes president who would then become the vice? there could nto be an actual vice...then soemone would have to take the speaker of the house position and so forth...

Hi ParaTed
You seem to have an even-handed approach to the subject unlike a lot of discussions I have seen, as an outsider (UK), it seems to me like a last ditch attempt by those who don't want to accept someone who doesn't look exactly like them as their new president. To imagine a man would embark on such a crusade on the basis of a dodgy birth certificate is only just short of lunacy. These characters spend untold millions of dollars getting themselves elected, and lose untold millions if they fail - you will notice that all those with something unpleasant in their closet fall by the wayside fairly quickly as their own security advisors do their own digging to find the embarrassing stuff before the opposition. There is just no way you could go that far without someone thinking to check out a birth certificate - after all most of us noticed that he is not the 'all-American boy' from behind the white picket fence - did anyone else spot that?
Anyhow - it is none of my business really, but I just wanted to comment on what certainly appears to be a sensible view - you are right, if an irregularity were discovered now - it would be disastrous, but honestly it is hardly likely...

But just think, lunacy or not, all he had to do to end the lunacy is release his birth certificate.

If there were a question about his eligibility, yes! It shouldn't be up to everyone else to prove the eligibility of the person asking for our vote.

We must not make Obama into a demigod which is what people have been assuming that he is -because he is the first 'black' president, America will enter a period of prosperity, all racism will cease, America will once again be the leader of the world, etc. I would wonder why no one ever wished the former president elects such adulation and well wishes. And I am afraid that people will do what he wants good or bad because of his ethnic group and not because he is the president, if he still qualifies.

He was the one who sold himself as a demigod, but that was to get elected. Now he and his supporters are doing all they can to humanize him and excuse him for not being able to live up to what they made of him before got elected.
Now that he's in, nothing matters anymore... He's in.

As I understand it, the point is rather moot. Even if his birth certificate were a fake, and he was born in Kenya, I believe section 8 of the constitution would still define him as a natural born citizen since his mother was a US citizen. The only requirement is that she live in the US for 5 years, at least 2 of which must come after the age of 14.
"(g) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years:"

True Taskr, but there is evidence that his parents had his US citizenship revoked so he could become a citizen of Indonesia. There is also evidence that his name might be Soeto instead of Obama.
But none of that seems to matter anymore.

Yes, I hope so, too. Our inability to correctly count votes has already made us a laughingstock around the world. My brother rubs it in every election, lol. Anyhow, this would really be a blow to the credibility of our system as well as put the constitution in question. Right now we really don't need that on top of everything else that is going on in this country. I can only imagine the bad economic fall out from that. And the possible riots and stuff.
No, as much as I don't like him, I really hope all works out alright in this respect. I also hope he fulfills his promises, even a quarter of them, lol, for the sake of the people who elected him and put so much faith into him. Despite all the caution even put out by the Obama team, I know people who think that come January 20th their life will change for the better, all their problems will be gone...

yeah, I have talked to a lot of people who think their happiness is dependent on whose butt fills the big chair in the Oval Office. It really is sad when people think others are responsible for their happiness.

I sincerely hope so to. For the sake of this country. the consiquences are nothing short of dire. If he is found ineligable, we are left with a few scenarios, none of which mean anything good. If he is found ineligable and steps down, the riots that could ensue could litteraly mean the imposition of martial law. If he isfound ineligable and does not step down either because someone decides to circumvent the constitution and allow it in "national interests, again, the civil unrest would by widespread and result again, in a declaration of martial law, only it would be worse, because the declaration would be considered by many to be ilegitamate because it would be made by someone who is technicly not the legitamate president. Tha latter scenario sets us up for out rigfht civil war.
I know I sound like an alarmist and have been warning of this type of thing for a while now, but I don't believe I am too far off base. Simply from the conversation taking place in other channels, there are people fully ready for such a scenario.

Not an alarmist at all... if he is truly ineligible, we are as close to civil war as we have been since the 1800s. So let's hope he is eligible.

I have not even heard a follow up about him having to produce a sealed envelope from the Governor of Hawaii containing his birth certificate to Scotus. The deadline was the 1st of this month, then my father heard it was pushed back to the 5th and I have not checked recently.
I wonder if anyone even cares anymore...I mean I do. Because I look at it this way it is not as simply as saying that's all said and done, because he himself brought this on...and I would think with all the stink any normal person would make sure the opening of the document would be on the news LIVE. At least if was in that position I would do that. As proof.
But like you. We can only go with what we know.

Well, he won't be president until Jan 20th... and his election won't be official until the Electoral College meets on the 12th of this month. I have no doubt he'll win and be sworn in as president. It wasn't the outcome I hoped for, but then again, I wasn't a supporter of McCain either.
If Obama gets the Electoral votes, yes, he should be president.... if it turns out he is ineligible, he should be tried for crimes against the US Constitution.
