The Cure for Cancer

Every few months I grab the newspaper and I see some news about someone discovering some new ways to fight this terrible disease. Sometimes it's something ludicrous, like "Scientists assure that chewing on fish's eyeballs for 15 minutes a day may reduce chances of getting throat cancer". Other times, fortunately, the news are far more positive and include new medicines, procedures and the like. The thing is, no matter which of the above I read, I always end up asking myself the same question: Will they ever find a real cure for this? And that's pretty much the topic of discussion here, what do you think? Maybe in a few years?, decades? non of us will be alive to see it? Or do you think it'll never be achieved because of the nature of the disease? Share your thoughts! Rich

I pray that someday they will find a cure for all cancer. My mother had cervical cancer and had to have chemotherapy and radiation she survived and is still cancer free 4 years later however she does have other health issues related to the cancer treatment.

I'm glad to hear your mother is better. But yeah, the treatments can be just as deadly as the disease. I lost mine when I was very young, unfortunately she was very stubborn and my father couldn't convince her to take the treatment until it was already too late. Rich

I guess of all diseases Cancer has been able to elude the perfect cure for it. We have long diagnosed this disease but until today we have no exact cure for it. HIV which is just recently discovered disease is slowly finding cure although since they are just recent we wouldn't expect to find one soon. But Cancer has been here with us for so long and till now. Many doctors are making studies and theories on how to fight it but till now I still do not see any cure. Prevention is still the best option right now. While you don't have it avoid the things that might cause it. With regards to that fish eyeball chewing maybe be gross to some but somehow I learned to chew it everytime I eat fish. I hope I already am able to reduce my chances of getting it myself.

This disease is indeed very strange because it is your body that is turning against you. It is triggered by something from the outside but the real enemy is you own cells which is supposed the one that should be protecting itself.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure a cure for HIV will be found in the next decade or so, they are making great improvements with the treatments. When was the first case reported?, nearly twenty years ago or so. Cancer on the other hand, that's been around for a little longer, I remember reading they found rests of dinosaurs that had traces of having it. Pretty scary stuff if you ask me. Rich

Rich, here in Indonesia we have a new way of curing cancer. Some people called it alternative medical treatment. The treatment works by combining some herbals founds in all forest in Indonesia. It is true that the research progressing so slowly, but all i can think about how wonderful the news for all the patients in hope. And there are also hospitals in China which focus on cancer treatments, and i have read some testimonials on the websites of how the treatment really cured or at least reduce the cancer. It just too bad the treatments is very expensive. Well, lets just hope that the treatment will be affordable soon.

I started the same kind of discussion a few days ago. I hear people say that they have a cure they just don't want to tell people because cancer is a way to control population. Anyway, I started the discussion and received a comment from some guy that made a good point. He said that the cancer "industry" is a million dollar "industry" and if we had a cure there would be no more money needed to give to cancer research and other organizations involving cancer and the pharmasutical CO's would loose millions if people didn't need the medications anymore. I wonder now myself if he was right..........

Hey Joekid, I just saw your discussion through your profile, I did a search for the topic before starting this one, but as we all know, the search engine on this site is seriously broken. Anyways, about your post: There are similar conspiracy theories for about everything, people say the exact same thing about an AIDS cure. Then there's the people who think that is pointless to vaccinate their children, because the vaccines are just a placebo, and so on and so forth. Now, if we believe one conspiracy theory, then we might as well believe them all and figure the pharmaceutical industry is just a huge scam and they are selling us tic-tacs at outrageous prices. It is a bit much don't you think? Rich
