have you ever thought that why fat people have an endless urge for sweets, cakes and pastries ? but i have read an article that a new study in mice has shown that obesity gradually numbs the taste sensation to sweet foods . the study showed that these rats had normal body weight before, but they tend to chronically overeat due to a missing satiety signal , become obese and develop disbetes. the obese rats also showed an increased preference for sweet foods and also are willing to work harder to obtain sweet solutions. the research also showed that obese rats have a weaker response to weak concentrations and stronger response to stronger concentrations. when the tongue of these rats were exposed to sucrose the obese rats were overall less sensitive to sucrose .

I am not obese myself, but I always try to understand obese people and not judge and generalise them. Thanks for this post to shed some light on how difficult it gets for people to keep in control!
