Do you believe that making money from sites like myLot is honest?

Personally I don't. Where does the money come from? This is not a charity and whoever is paying must want something in return. They are obviously not getting much from productive intelligent discussions as they are almot none existent here.
They are very eager to get you to open up and give them details on your paypal account and give other personal information. I heard some stories about similar websites who come and go and their goal is to collect your email addresses, paypal account info and other personal information. They sell your information to spammers and anyone who is willing to pay.
As for us, the users on here. Is it honest of us to post and reply to discussions of no importance only to gain the points?
Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on this.

Yes it is honest because you will not earn money here so easily. You need to work hard in posting and replying to the discussions.

But is it morally honest to be able to make money on here with discussions about nothing? Is it morally honest to make money from posting a question like "what's your favourite colour" or replying to that "red"? Shouldn't people make an effort to make the discussions interesting, informative and spend some time to think?

But who decides what answers are useless? They hardly have people reading and rating every single comment on here and we all know that people hit the + for their friends so they are probably getting paid for those. Some of the top users on this site only have games and yes or no questions in their discussions.

If you read the guidelines, you will see that you are not rewarded well for useless discussions, or short one word answers.

I hope this is an honest way, I don't think they are doing anythng with our stuff, if they wanted to do something, thye have had plenty of time by now, I have always recieved my money and they seem fine to me. If I thought it was not honest I would definatly not be doing it.

If you feel that it is not honest, or that your personal information is at stake, why, then do you have 402 posts/replies? Just curious. I'm not trying to argue, just like others, I do not see the harm in it. If you don't feel comfortable with them having your information, don't give it!:)

I never said I thought it was dishonest, I was asking if other people thought it was. After reading the guidelines on here I know what kind of questions are not allowed on here and I avoid replying to discussions that go agains the guidelines. I don't want the money from here so that doesn't make a difference to me. It's the moral question about earning an honest living (I know it's not possible to make a living from mylot alone). It looks like some people don't care about where the money comes from as long as they get it, that's their opinion, I'm not judging them.

I havne't been here long enought to be able to answer that but I don't think many people who get money from here would put it on their next tax return and pay income tax on their earnings here. That is one reason why I would want to take your advice and see if I can donata my earnings to charity because I don't want to be hanged for not paying taxes on a few dollars.

Yes, very true. I work very closely with the tax authorities and I would never take the chance. I know they are trying to find out ways to be able to monitor any income people are receiving from internet sales and it's just a question about time when they will have access to it.
I also believe in honesty, even when it comes to paying taxes so if I earn money, I declare it. If everyone did that, those of us who actually do pay taxes, wouldn't have to pay as much. Not paying income tax on your earnings is actually stealing. Would you steel money directly if you had access to an open cash drawer at the tax office or any other place? I don't think so. Don't forget to inlude your myLot earnings on your next tax return (now everyone is gonna hate me on here)

Hmmm, that brings up some intersting points and things to ponder. Thanks!
