Do you check your order?

My husband is the pickiest eater. He doesn't like mayo or mustard, or lettuce and tomatoes, or pickles... or any of that stuff. So when we get fast food and he orders a burger, he usually asks for it plain, or with just ketchup. 99% of the time, they get it wrong. I tell my husband every time he gets fast food to check the order before he leaves, to make sure they got it right, that way he can get it fixed right then and there. But does he listen? Last night he went to Wendy's for us. He comes home with a big burger, opens the bun and finds there's mayo on it. EW! I like mayo, but not on my burgers, and he doesn't like mayo at all. Whenever I go to a fast food place I always check my order first, to make sure it's all right. Even though I don't ask for anything special, I want to make sure it's right so I'm not stuck paying for something I didn't want. Do you check your order first, or do you just hope they get it right?

I always check to make sure I have the right number of items, but I don't actually open up the burger and check. I hope he called to complain so they can replace his order when he goes back. Even if it is not the same day, they should be willing to replace it the next time he goes in.

No, he didn't call. He didn't even get a reciept, otherwise I would have called for him. He chalked it up to possibly not ordering correctly. He scraped the mayo off, added tons more ketchup, and ate it anyways. Sadly, he probably still won't learn his lesson.

HI Kats: that's funny, I am also quite picky and I for sure always check my order before I leave the place, if I don't sure enough when I get home it will be wrong; I don't like all that "extra stuff" on my food either (G)!! Even on the rare occasion I order a pizza to be delivered and they bring it and the damn thing will be burned, yes burned so now when I call them IF I CALL THEM, I tell them to NOT burn my pizza duh! and you know they see it when they slice the pizza HELLO???? stupid morons!! I've made them come back to my place with a fresh pizza one that is NOT burned!!

I used to work in a pizza place, and unless they have a brick oven or that type that you can just put the pizza in and forget it about it, then I have no idea how they can burn it. At Pizza Hut and Pappa John's, they're cooker is like a conveyor belt. The pizza goes in one end and comes out the other, the only way to burn the pizza is to either put it through again, or let the orders get backed up so the pizza's aren't coming out. But they don't normally let that happen.

Haha i'm not so picky thankfully. Neither is my boyfriend. However we eat generally in the car in the carpark, so if they DO get it wrong, we can always dash across and complain haha.

No, unfortunately I do not check my order. I just make sure there are fries and a burger or whatever I ordered. As far as the condiments I just wait to gripe when I get back home or to work and it is wrong. LOL! My husband is picky too! He checks his before he will let me leave the window. How embarassing is that?

It's better than him going hungry, or having to spend more food on something else. Normally what I will do is pull up 1 car length, that way I'm not holding up the line, but if the order is wrong I can just pull into a spot and go inside. That is less embarassing, but still gives you the chance to check your order.

Since my daughter is the only one who orders things in a special way (the rest of us eat it with everything) we usually check it out first. I have noticed that there are certain ways to word things that really help to get the order correct. First of all, my daughter likes only ketchup. If we say "cheeseburger with only ketchup" we will get one of two things. Either a cheeseburger swimming in ketchup or one that has everything. Maybe the phrase makes no impression on the cashier so we have switched to saying "only LIGHT ketchup". We have rarely had a mistaken order for her since. Try an experiment. Instead of "one cheeseburger plain" or "one plain cheeseburger" (they may be thinking you mean regular instead of double or something else?) say "one cheeseburger with nothing on it". Now that I'm thinking of it, saying "one cheeseburger n*ked!" may really make an impression! I bet they won't get THAT order wrong!

I think normally he says plain with just ketchup. It's rare that I have them screw up the orders for me, I don't know why. He tells me to ask for it plain, and that's what I say, and it's fine. It's only ever him they mess the order up for. And if I can't get him to check the order before he leaves the window, I doubt I can get him to say something different.

I always get the wrong food. I must be a target I swear. Yes I do check the food every time and yes I do usually sit right there at the drive through window while I am checking it too!

I always special order my food from Burger King so I have to check itbefore I leave but I don't special order at other places. I do check the order to make sure it'sd right but not the specific foods.

I'm not a really picky eater so i never really worry about it. I did have a friend like that though and he would always check his order before he even pulled away from the drive thru window. I guess you'd just have to say it in spanish or something depending on where you live. I know in my area it's all spanish that do fast food so it is usually messed up if you order your food with or without something. I guess that's the only suggestion i could give you is do it right there at the window and make everyone else wait.

i don't always check my order but if i am not sure of what the waiter or waitress put in my take-away bags,i will check it by myself .if there is something i did not order, i can change it directly, but if i find it when getting home ,i will have difficulty in going back to make a change.

yeah i check my order 90% of the time, I am a picky eater too. I think that people who ask to have a lot altered to their meal whether it is add or taking away certain items, are just asking for their meal to be incorrect eventually (several times!) Of course I would know because like I said, pick eater over here. It's good to check while you're still at the window eal quick. It's not worth driving home finding out you have something on your burger that you really don't want. It really does ruin the meal. You should always make sure youget what you pay for, too.

I don't check and just think they should be right. Sometimes there are mistakes, but it's not very often.

Several times, i have gotten the wrong stuff on my orders. It would usually be a packet of fries that's missing, or a wrong type of burger. And probably it's because that i visit McDonalds more often than the other fast-food chains; the mistake always would be in McDonalds. Since then, i made it a point to check my orders before leaving the counter, and it has now become a habit. Prolly you really need to remind your hubby again, and again about remembering to check his orders, since it's always NINETY-NINE percent wrong. LOL!!

The last time I didnt check my order they put tomatoes on it and I cant stand tomatoes. Now the place I went to was National Coney Island and what I got the tomatoes were small, and cut up. I took it back, got a new one, and I was told that I could have a free one, the next time that I came in. Now I know someone who is highly allergic to mayo, and when he goes to Burger King, they always, always, always put the stuff on his hamburgers. The last time, I went with him, and they only messed up one.

I don't check my order and there are times when it makes me feel very frustrated and sometimes even angry when I don't get what I ordered. I on the other hand rarely make things special...which does cut down on mistakes. A quick comment about your husband's burger...with no lettuce or tomatoes he misses out on the healthiest part of the burger! (If it really matters).

I don't want mayonnaise on my hamburger, either. We do usually check our orders before leaving. They do often put the wrong thing on a sandwich or even put in the wrong ones! When I've been in a hurry, I've even got home without part of the order! So I've learned to check, at least do a 'look and see' in the sack before leaving a drive in window. I've paid for desserts and they'd fail to put them in. They apparently do not check behind each other.
