Unknown to many young persons now ,people in the seventies and eighties used to watch a television which only showed two colors (or should I say hues or shades).Back in those days not many persons had any television in my community and many persons would line up to watch television at my home (we were lucky to have one). Many people would also stay up to watch the late night movies (the best movies always came late)and there was a lot of excitement when the show was about to start and during periods when a lot of action was taking place. Sundays was another day persons would line up at our home to watch the Sunday Matinee ,which was another favorite. Karate and western were a big hit with my guests as well.
Those were the good days .How many persons remember them ,How many persons have ever seen a black and white television

I can just imagine your excitement and frustation both at the same time.I reemeber once my mother said that I had to go to bed an could not watch the late movie.Sad to say ,I couldnt sleep because of the excitement of the situation and I stayed up and listened to the entire thing from my bedroom .

I remember the black and white TV real good. The first TV I was was in the mid 40's. It had a round screen about 6" across and a real thick magnifying glass about 12" square out a little ways in front of the screen. I bought the first TV for our house in about 1956. One station was all we could get.

In the seventies when I was a child, we had only black and colour tv those who were lucky to have one. colour televisions were imported in 1982s in Malta. They were rather expensive and only a few families had them at first. I can still remember western films and cartoons on the old black and white tv

I still have a bunch of those old western films on VHS. I loved them on early TV and still enjoy them. John Wayne, Gabby Hays, Roy Rogers. I even have one of Red Rider and Little Beaver. In the 40's we would go to town on Saturday and while Mom and Dad did their thin g I would go to a movie. I was about 7 or 8 and would go in by my self. It cost 15 cents to get in the movie, 5 cents for a box of popcorn and 5 cents for a coke. About an hour and a half of prime entertainment for 25 cents. When I look at where we were then and where we are now I can't help but get a tear in my eye. Everything was so much simpler then and a lot more time to just enjoy life.
