I fixed lil' smokies tonight.. you know those little sausages in bbq sauce and pepsi. I love these things and there are so many different ways to fix them. My family browns them first in the skillet, then we add in 1/2 can of pepsi or coke per package of lil' smokies, then we let that simmer for about 3 minutes, then we add some bbq sause, let that simmer for about 5 minutes, then add a little more sauce, let that simmer for about 5 minutes, then add a little more sauce. I prefer Corky's original bbq sauce, but we also use sonny's bbq sauce, the sweet sauce. Do you like them? and if so... what's your recipe for them?

OMG, I'm writing this down right now! The only thing I ever do with those little smokies is to dump them in a pot with some baked beans and that's it. It got boring a long time ago but I like those little things so I'm going to try your recipe. We have a Sonny's down here, too, so maybe I'll get some of their sauce while I'm at it.

I hope you like it. Be sure that you add sauce as you go and not all at once. The pepsi makes the sauce real watery so you think you have to add more than what is needed. As the pepsi cooks out the sauce thickens, so add just a little sauce at a time... I think this is a good way to fix them, but I'm looking for new ways to try them. I don't like beans, but I have known of people who fix them like that too. My boyfriend also fries them in apple juice. They are good that way too.

Thanks for the advice. I'm picking some up tomorrow and giving it a try. I'll also have to try your boyfriend's recipe, too...and any other ideas I get from this discussion.

Yes, I love the lil' smokies. We mix them in with swedish meatballs. We put the meatballs and lil' smokies in a slow cooker and we add a couple of bottles of bbq sauce and let it cook/warm for an hour. We always serve them when we have parties. You can also use them to make pigs in a blanket. I've never made pigs in a blanket, but I'll make some one day.

That sounds pretty good too. My boyfriend cooks them in apple juice. You could try that as well.

Goodness me. I have never heard of this, It does sound good though but I would never of thought to cook things in Pepsi before. I love barbacue sauce so I think I would love these smokies very much. Goodness you really do learn something new everyday on MyLot. Yesterday I only found out what a skillet was. I had a guess that it was some kind of fish but now I know it's a frying pan.

It's a southern thing. My aunt cooks a lot of things in pepsi. LOL! anyway.. Try frying them in apple juice too. My boyfriend does this and they are great that way too. You need just as much juice as what covers them in the skillet. It'll cook out some, but they still keep the flavor.
