Do You Cook With Onions?

I love onions. I can eat them in just about everything. I love them sauteed in a little butter. I could eat them just by themselves. I guess I get it from my dad, he used to say that eating raw onions and jalapenos helped keep him from getting sick. Whether or not that actually works, I don't know, but I know that I love cooking with onions. I cook them with my ground beef when I'm making spegetti, chili, hamburger helper, etc. My children don't like onions so I always have to pick them out for them. How about you, do you like to cook with onions?

I use onions in a ton of my recipes. Unfortunately, I have a hard time cutting them because my eyes burn / tear so badly!

I HAD to respond to this one! I adore onions. I put them in almost everything. Sauteed, fried, baked, boiled, raw, any way but whole. I knew someone once who ate onions like they were apples! I couldn't do that, but I do love my onions! There's a song made just for people like you and me, and whomever else loves onions as much: I Love Onions. Here's a link to the song on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnssTSeK89k If you haven't heard it before, I KNOW you're going to love it, too! Watch this video... you're going to love the song.

Hey singlemommy! I'm with you on this one! I just love onions too! I cook them with just about everything I can! I also could probably eat them alone! I love sauteed onions too! Although I don't cook them in butter because I don't even use butter I use cooking spray and just spray the pan first. Sometimes I will use a little bit of vegetable oil. I cook them with ground beef when I make hambergers, meat loaf, meat sauce for spaghetti, for steaks. If I am making a stir fry meal of chicken and vegetables I, of course will add onions too! I have always heard that onions were good for you too and whether this is true or not I just love the anyway!

Of course, depends on what it is! I bake with onions, fry/grill onions, put onions on sandwiches and salads! Why not, may not taste great alone, but when added to dishes, depending on what it is, it tastes alright! taripre4

I put onions in EVERYTHING! My favorite thing to do with onions right now is to cut them into slices (like for chinese stirfry) along with sliced fresh mushrooms, with 1/4 cup melted butter, throw them in a skillet and sautee with 1 TBSP each of soy sauce and lemon juice. Sautee until done and serve either over or with steak!

I love them! I cook almost everything with onions. I also eat a piece of bread with some sour cream , cheese and lots of raw onion. My kids say that I'm confused between apples and onions. That I think onions are apples - ha,ha!

I love to cook with onions because it gives the food really good flavor. I dice them up very small though so my kids eat them and never know. I'm not a big fan of onions by themselves or big chunks of onions in my food either.

I always try to dice them up really small too, but they always seem to detect the smallest piece of onion. Thanks for the comment!

I think onions are great too! They add a very distinct (and delicious!!) flavour to foods in my opinion and I will add them to most dishes that I cook. Your dad was right about the health benefits - onions are known to have cancer-preventing chemicals contained in them. So not only do they taste fab, but they are good for us too!

I like putting onions in spagetti sauces, soups, salads, pizza and many other recipes. Well I guess I will go and cook something with onions since I am really getting hungry. :)

I cook with onions a lot, too. I bought a Pampered Chef food chopper and it's my best friend when it comes to cooking... I can chop the onions up so fine that it's more like a pulp and add them to ANYTHING! I even add onion powder to things like baked chicken - since I can't exactly add real onions to them. Garlic is another one of those things that I add to EVERYTHING! The only thing I cook on a regular basis that doesn't get a dose of onions or garlic is Pancakes or French Toast! LOL

I love onions as well. But I no longer eat them.Because of my health. IOnions are one of thinsg I have to avoid or risk puking every time I lay down and go to sleep. I guess it is a good thing because I am the only one in my family who likes onions.

I will mix onions in my meat balls, and also when I am making hash browns, I will add a little onions and green and red peppers to the mix. I am not into eating raw onions unless they are the red onions or the Spanish onions as the others are too strong, and I do fry onions and mushrooms when I am making pork chops, chicken, and hamburgers. I also make a good macaroni casserole and add onions, and also when I make beef stew, I use carrots, onions, potatoes, and of course gravy. It is quite good. I wish I could chop them finer. I have to get a better knife.

Onions and garlic are very good for you. Maybe if you get a chopper and chop the onions very fine your kids wont know its in there and they can get the very good benifits of the veggie.

I love onions, my father loves onions too. I always like to put onions in my food when preparing it. My husband will pick out the onions, he do not mind a little raw onions, but he does not like cooked onion too much. I remember when I was in school, we were not allowed to use the stove when my parents were not home. I would come home from school and fry some onions and make a sandwich of them with mustard. Back then that tasted so good to me.

I do cook quite a bit with onion. Mt kids do not like onion either but don't say anything until they see it in their food. If I am making something that I want the flavor in and I know they will freak if they see it...then I grate it with a cheese grater and it basically cooks away to nothing but the flavor is still there.
