Hmmm... Maybe they feel a little guilty?

I see where both the Morgan Stanley and the Merrill Lynch CEO's have decided to give up their yearly bonuses. John Mack, Morgan Stanley CEO is giving up his yearly bonus for the 2nd year in a row. John Thain, Merrill Lynch's CEO at first requested that he get his $10,000,000 yearly bonus but has changed his mind and decided not to take it.
Hmmm... do you think the pressure from Congress and citizens had anything to do with it?
What's your take on these bonuses?

My daughter will be happy to hear that - she wrote about Thain's audacity at her blog for her media company at http://www.byanymedianecessary.com (heh. I can just hear some of the more conservative folks here going.. oh, no! She bred another one in her likeness!)
My take on it is that it's absolutely obscene for any one person to get a -bonus- - not even a salary but a bonus of $10 million based on the work of other people, especially in a company that has accepted billions in government aid in the past two months. How do you have the chutzpah to ask for a bonus in a year in which the company you headed ... went under???
