Okay Yankees fans, it has been reported that Sabathia has agreed to sign with the Yankees on espn radio this morning for 6 yrs, $140 million. As a red sox fan, I am happy that the sox did not go after this guy. That amount of n money is too much for any player, especially a pitcher. What do you sports fans think, is any pitcher worth that much? The yankees now have 2 guys on their payroll in A-rod and Sabathia whose salaries will combine for over $300 million. How long will his arm hold up over the years? One bad arm injury, and all that money will be wasted.

Actually, he did sign with the Yankees as you noted, but its not for $140 million. It's for $161 million for 7 years with an opt-out clause after the 3rd year. The deal allowed Sabathia to have the highest salary ever for a starting pitcher [trumping that of Mets starter Johan Santana] and allows CC Sabathia to bolt out of New York if things don't work out for him there.

I don't think he really wants to be there. That's why he took the 3 yr opt out clause. I'm tired of athletes goinf for the money. People should sign with the teams that they wanna play for. It was reported that he wanted to play on the west coast close to home near california. He should have signed with one of the west coast teams if that were the case. He sat down and spoke with the yankees the 1st time to get the other teams to offer more money, and they didn't. So he met with them a 2nd time and made a deal. What's the difference between $161 million from the yanks, and 80 million from the Dodgers? Nothing! It's still millions of dollars. Any of these guys can retire right now and never work another day in their lives.
