The other day i posted a discussion about tooting horns. I said i rarely use mine - well i used it today cause some doofus didn't bother to look where he was reversing at full speed (into my car)in frustration at the line for gas. I honked at him while TRYING to get my car to reverse on the ice. I didn't succeed and he hit me pretty hard ripping my bumper off 3/4 of the way and leaving hunks of my car on the ground. My poor baby car has its first true booboo. Thankfully he did stop and apologize - i got his insurance information and phone number, license plate and name. Its going on his insurance not mine so the accident which could have been averted by looking where he was going. Why cant people take the time to LOOK before spinning their tires and trying to squeal off in frustration.

From the sound of it, he's anger level seems pretty high and that tends to blind his sense of reason. Even if his eyes tell his brain he should reverse because there is someone behind him, his anger will tell his eyes to shut up and gloat his brain to do some serious damage. The problem is, his anger forgot to mention the price he will need to pay later. Sorry about your car but try to enjoy the new paint job and new auto parts Since I don't drive, I would like to ask the same question of walkers. Just what are these people thinking when they stop suddenly in the middle of a crowded street and the hundreds behind them have to stop short or do a falling domino dance subsequently.

LOL, I was a tad bit confused. The frustrating part right now is waiting for the claims adjuster to get back to me.

I've had several close calls out on the road with people like this. Its sad that you can be the best driver in the world but you can still be involved in an accident because of someone elses stupidity.

I agree it is sad. You can be as cautious as you can and others arent and you still end up in an accident at times.

I only use my horn when a) somebody is about to hit me or b) somebody is stopped in front of me at a light which has turned green and they obviously haven't noticed. Anyway, sorry to hear about your baby. Hope it gets taken care of and that it isn't too bad. People get distracted and in a hurry and many things. It's a shame.

I hope it gets fixed SOON. I hate driving my baby like that. But i found out that he's claiming its not his fault.

there are many factors affecting people making them not to look where they are going. One the factors is that if the subject is a guy, it may be because he saw a beautiful lady and was attracted to the person. more is to come. cheerio

Yes, people need to look where they're going. Honestly I wasnt moving when he hit me. I HAD been parked and i TRIED to reverse to get out of his way but ice didnt help me get moving.

I guess it was because he was feeling passionate about something that he lost his senses and did something that he usually wouldn't do. Since he stopped and gave his information I'm pretty sure that he was remorseful. I have a friend that whenever she gets upset I have to drive because I fear for both of our lives. Otherwise, some people just have a habit of looking when they decide that they want to reverse but then don't give another look when they actually begin to do it. People like that are idiots to me.

I'm glad he at least STOPPED and gave me his information. I usually take the time to look and back up slowly...there's more blind spots back there.

I so know your pain. It is very frustating that people do not look where they are going and it gets me even more these fender benders could of been avoided. I have seen it all too much and have been first eye witness to many of these little colllisions. Now you will be out of a car for awhile while they repair it and it truly is an inconveience. Hope it doesn't take too long. And glad that no one was hurt.

I'm hoping it doesnt take too long. One thing about here is so many people are rural you almost ALWAYS get a loaner car while its being fixed.

Hi saundyl~I'm so sorry to hear about your baby's booboo! But, I'm glad that you are alright! That happened while you were in line for gas! Where the hell did the guy think he was going that he was in such a hurry and wasn't looking? What an idiot! And he did that much damage! That is unbelievable! If he did that while he was in line for gas I would hate to think what he is like while he is driving! That is a really scary thought! And knowing that it is icy too! Some people really just don't think! Well, maybe when his insurance rates go up he just might think then, but I doubt it. I just hope that he drives more carefully because someone like that could really be a menace on the roads.

I thought the damage was superficial until i drove home - the car is whining and acting oddly now. SO hopefully it can be fixed cause i actually like this car.
