What is the difference between religion, spirituality and an atheist?

The world we live in is full of as many beliefs as there are people. Do you consider yourself to be religious person, a spiritual person or perhaps a nonbeliever? I am interested in hearing your opinion about faith, spirituality and religion. What do you believe in? Why do you believe what you believe? What role or purpose does believing have to our lives? Do you believe in a God or something bigger than yourself? I consider myself to be a spiritual person, I don't call myself religious. I guess I'm not an atheist because I do believe that there is something bigger than myself. Most people call this entity or thing GOD. They practice various rituals and ceremonies which serves a purpose to connect them to a greater purpose in life. I do not go to church this is why I, call myself spiritual instead of religious. I like the concept that I've heard described as a "collective unconscious". Although one could write volumes on the collective unconscious and its meanings, I understand it as the following: we and everything around us is created from energy, because we're all created from the same energy there is a spiritual or a psychic connection if you will, between all living creatures and the earth. In this way, all living things are connected and interdependent on one another, and are affected by energy around us. So, what affects one of us, will affect the whole no matter how small it may be If you consider yourself to be a nonbeliever, I'm interested in hearing from you how you feel about religion and spirituality? Do people have very hostile reactions to you when you say you don't believe? If you do not believe in anything outside of yourself, how do you find purpose and meaning you life? If you follow a traditional religion do you feel that your fundamental core values are being eroded because of people's lack of commitment to worshiping a GOD? What do you think your greatest purpose in life is? Finally, please share any thoughts you may have on how we can bridge the wide gaps between the differing belief systems in our world. Thank you in advance to contributing to a thoughtful and meaningful discussion.
