I'm in one of those, what do I make for dinner tonight moods! It seems with the price of groceries going up, the choices for dinner are lessening. Have any ideas! Rhonda

Hi joerhonda, welcome to mylot and have a happy stay here. I know what you mean and I agree with you. What I do in these last times is create new cheap dishes but keeping the food healthy. Here some ideas: 1)make macarroni with vegetables in the sauce like tomatoes sauce with carrots and summer squash. Tomatoes sauce with pumpkin and etc. It is very tasty you can trust me. 2)Salads with vegetables like a salad made with potatoes and brocoli. Fry the brocoli with oil and garlic untill it becomes smooth. Mix it with the potatoes and add vinagar, salt and black pepper. This kind of salads is a meal and you only add to meal some kind of fish or meat. 3)Put boiled rice in a oven dish greased with oil. Cover it with a sauce made with tomatoes, haricot beans and carrots. Make cavities in the rice and put a egg in each cavity with a piece of butter in the top. Sprinkle with grated cheese and put in the oven untill the eggs are boiled. Hope it can help you. Have a nice day and welcome.

First off, thanks for the welcome! I'm enjoying it so far! Secondly, I love the sound of the rice dish!!! I think I will try that tonight! I had all but the beans, but I called my husband and asked him to pick them up on the way home from work! I have never heard of this before! The other ideas sound great too! I'll have to try them! Thanks a bunch! Rhonda

Yeah, our grocery bill seems like it has doubled lately. Tonight we are having beef soft tacos. We'll also be having refried beans. Tomorrow night, we're going to have sloppy joes, green beans, and chips. Those are both relatively inexpensive meals. I hope this helps give you some ideas.

Yes! I know what you mean. Everthing is far to expensive at the moment. We eat a lot of meat and it has got far to pricey for me. We also had a pork scare and we where told to put everything in the bin as it was toxic a few days ago (which I did) and then last night I was told it was all safe again.?????????? Well I made Chicken, mashed potatoes, sweetcorn, stuffing and gravey for dinner. The potatoes where not my usual ones and it spoilt it a little for me. I really hate deciding what to buy. I seen the chicken on a special offer so it choose me tonight which was great. I hope you sort something out. What about spagetti or a pasta dish as it is quite reasonable in price. Good luck anyway.

I know what you mean about pricey meat! Same here too! We just paid someone $65.00 for deer venison which I thought was a great deal! We haven't picked it up yet though :( We are thinking of buying a pig and splitting a cow with someone. We have friends that did that and they swear it's the only way to go. I thought about pasta, but I think I'm pasted out! LOL! Turkey is another one I don't feel like eating right now. We bought a turkey the day after Thanksgiving for .79 cents so we ate turkey for 2 weeks! I wish they would discover a new animal for use to eat that was cheap and "didn't taste like chicken"! LOL!
