why do asian ppl prefer sons than daughters? From chinese to indians to Pakistanis.. all seem to want sons.. i know one family that has like 6 daughters and at last a son... for them.. daughters are more a liability..... for indians they had the dowri system in the old times.. but that has been abolished... dowri is the gifts and money that the father had to give the daughters would be husband when they marry.. other than the passing of the surnames to the sons. i dont see how daughters are different.. i feel daughters look after the parents more than the sons.. wen the sons marry they go with their wife... i have an aunt who lives with her only daughter, though she has 4 sons who each have a house... Personally if i would have a child.. i would like a daughter...hmm but my husband want a son.. hmmm What do u guys think.. wat would u want.. a son or a daughter

hi.. I'm Asian and of half chinese blood. My dad said, every chinese father would dream of having a son, because the son would soon be responsible of the family business and would stand for the whole family if the father is not there anymore. The son is an investment, the daughter is a liability. You can always give your daughters away to their husbands when they get married and be under the dominion of their husbands. While the son can still work with the family business without his wife overpowering him. In Asia, it is still practiced that men rule or dominate over women. If I were to have a kid, I want to have a daughter. I want to train her to be a strong and independent woman.. just like her mom

Personally, I am fortunate enough to have both. I have three living sons, and one living daughter. I also have one son who is deceased. I never cared if I had a son or daughter when I was pregnant, I only wanted a healthy child. I think that many cultures want boys because they are the ones who typically carry one the family name, and in many cultures, carrying on the family name is important. They feel that if they have girls, the family name will die.
