Depending on where you are from you may call your noon meal lunch or dinner. And depending on what you call that meal you may call the evening meal dinner or supper. In the South the noon meal is referred to as dinner and the evning meal as supper. Up North it is lunch (noon) and dinner (evening). That is how I can tell here in the South how many people are natives of the area or where someone is from. So what do you call it and tell me where you are from?

Wow... that's really interesting!! Thanks for letting me know more about how people call this in other part of the world. I'm from Malaysia. Here, we call the noon meal as lunch and evening meal as dinner. The meal after dinner, we call it as supper. Merry Christmas and have a nice day.

I live in Idaho, and the noon meal has always been lunch, and the evening one is dinner to me. But, my mother in law is also born and raised here, and she calls the noon meal dinner and the evening one supper. So, that really doesn't help you at all :)

I am from and live in Minnesota. I call the noon hour meal lunch and the evening meal dinner and supper, whichever comes out. I have a friend who lives 2 hours away and he calls the noon meal dinner and the evening meal supper.
