Have you turned on automatic updates in your computer? It is adviced to do so,because you get updated files through the net.But my friend advised me not to turn on,because I am having a pirated Windows Xp.Updating still, may lead to serious consequences is his argument. Is it true? Please explain!

Yes, it's a real shame that you are using pirated software. This is illegal. However, the updates from Microsoft do require you to have a genuine installation of windows xp and the updates just won't work. You may also find yourself being linked back to Microsoft and I guess they could eventually trace you. This is bad stuff! Get yourself a genuine copy of Windows xp. Good luck. Andrew

Well yes he is right. This may lead to some serious problems. And plus if your computer gets updated with a pirated version, then the Windows Guinuine advantage thing shows up on the screen and it buggs the hell out of user. You dont want that to happen

In my pc automatic updates is not turn on.I am using a pirated version of Xp.If we turned on automatic updates, after completing the updates a not genuine banner will appear, while we try to log in to the computer. So it is better to turned off automatic updates,if we are using a pirated version of windows operating system.

On my computer I turned off the automatic updates and even system restore also turned off. Its not recommended to turn off the automatic updates if you have a pirated windows. Any way you still can update your windows manually if you want but don't apply the wga update or you will screwed up your windows.

Yeah!! he is right to some extend. But using a pirated Xp will cause more problems than this. Better you install a good one.I used to turn off the automatic updates because once my Xp SP2 automatically updated to SP 3 and that resulted in hanging up of my whole system. So,I usually turn the automatic updates off or set as "ask me before downloading the updates".
