I don't think there is any hazard to fertility treatments because so far I have not heard anything bad that happens because of this. In fact, it had made a great help to those couples who had been trying to beget a child but failed. Throught this treatment, they were given the big chance to have their own child/ren. With regards to the 70 year old woman from India, I believe she and her husband were so lucky enough to have another child at their age. I know a lot of people will criticize them because of their age but I guess, its not really going to be a problem especially if they have the finances to support their child. Goodluck to them!

hi grammy ....it is good but if the couple are around 50-55 years of age then it would have been much better now i doubt how much the can enjoy their parenthood.it would be better if some one is ready to adopt that child after the parents pass away.

its not just about changing lifestyle that affects fertility, but also we have to consider our changing climate too.

yeah, you are right...from the time we wake up there is a lot of pollution around us.the kind of food we are taking every small thing is adding to the risk.even while sleeping we have to fight mosquitoes by keepin coils, allout etc.dont you think thell do some harm or other....

I think it is a bit over the top for someone of that age to be conceiving a child. If not for their own health but at that age they are not likely to be around for the long run. I think I would feel sorry for the child as they aren't likely to have a parent around for long.

My dad has often said God knew what he was doing when he gave kids to young folks! I agree! How is a lady that age going to keep up with a toddler running around all day

ohhh... that's great news for them, but how could they, themselves, take care of the child, unless, they have a nanny. Coz i don't think they can still give the child the proper care needed, or am i just being too judgmental... But, anyways, I just hope the best for them... :)

wow.. hopefully they have made arrangements for someone to take care of them ..some relatives who are going to accept the child..... i think the Indian couple have money.. otherwise they wouldnt be able to afford invitro fertilization treatments..... There was also a case where the mother became a surrogate mother for her daughter because her daughter couldnt conceive...

I think that that is too old to be giving birth, but I do think that it is wonderful how science has come so far and that something like this can happen these days.

Yes I have seen this in the papers and the couple look very simple and rustic and so I don’t think lifestyle hazard is a problem with them. Maybe they were unfortunate of either of them has some problem which they were trying to cure but ultimately could not. However, I was really surprised at the perseverance and mindset of the couple…I mean at 70, most people would be contemplating retiring for the day and put up your feet and enjoy whatever is left of life. I think it is quite an irresponsible decision on their part…they have purposefully brought a new life to this world knowing fully well that age would not permit them to give everything to this child, even if they wanted to. To fulfil their own desire to become parents, they have jeopardized the future of this child. A very selfish decision, if you ask me.

I find that amazing news so thanks for sharing. The lady is very old to be a first time mother at 70 years old and the man at 72 is even older. I am delighted that the baby girl is in a healthy condition. Medical advances are happening all the time. I know that a lady aged 40 to 50 is less fertile that she was when younger and treatment might not work. The lady is very lucky and I hope she lives to be very very old. Her daughter will be 10 years old when she is 80 and 18 years old when she is 88 years old. The lady must be healthy and able to bring up her baby girl. Good luck to her.

Why will a woman wants to have a baby at 70? we must all agree that when we reach 70 we are approaching our time. So why bring a child to life that will soon be orphan? I wonder......

hi...you are right.well the parents may not live more than 15 years or so .it would be good if there is someone to care of that child afterwards.

this news show us that you never have to feel that there arent opportunities for someone to get pregnant even if they are too old.i don't imagine that they will take care of the baby so i think they did it for someone of the family.but still this show us the progress in medicine.

wow that is shocking. i can't imagine wanting to have a child at that point in my life. I get wanting to have kids, but at that point I think you would have to think of the child. Both the parents are in their 70s, how much longer are they going to make it? Then you have this poor kid that has to suffer through losing a parent at a young age.

Hi karubod, I'm not sure if there is a hazard or not, but I have to wonder about the well being of the child. I know that people die a all ages but there's a much greater chance that this child will lose both parents before she is grown up. What will happen to the child if that happens. Blessings.

I think that this couple should have adopted one in their young days. Why should they have children at this age. Children are energetic and I doubt it that this child will get the required attention. I know that there will be persons who does not like this answer but we should put aside the sentimental and look at the facts. Now if both of them should die who will be supporting this child. People now a days are so selfish and unkind. Will the state be burden with another expense. Is it that having a child for themselves worth it at this age. I am happy for them but sad for the child. Let's pray for the best. When this child is ten they will be in their eighties. Well God still perform miracles.

Personally, I'd like to know why this couple wanted to have kids at their age. Was it a child they intended to raise, or something they were doing for a family member that couldn't have kids? Or was it so that they'd have somebody to pass everything down to? I don't believe potential parents should try fertility treatments unless there is some reason they can't adopt or foster kids. Why? It's quite simple really. Nature itself is a very fine balancing act. In order to control over population, nature has made it so that some people can not have kids. However, she also compensates this with the fact that not all people were meant to have kids but do. There are a lot of people that are incapable of raising healthy, happy children into adulthood. The reasons for this are often biological or emotional. So what happens to these kids? They bounce from home to home feeling unloved or unworthy. Or they stay in their home with their natural parents, and have those biological and emotional traits passed down to them also. But nature herself provided a solution to this problem! She made it so that not everybody can have children. She made it so that at a certain age, females can not get pregnant anymore. It's her way of encouraging adoption. It's her way of saying "hey look! That kid over there needs the time and love and attention of a parent, whether they live with you or not! That maternal desire, or paternal desire, that you are feeling is really meant for that child!" It is only people in their arrogant glory that believes they know better than nature does. They decide to go against nature, and use every medical procedure that they can think of to have a child 'of their own.' Now tell me, what kind of parent are they going to be when they can't realize that a child of their own doesn't necessarily mean one that they gave birth to? That it doesn't necessarily mean that it is one that will carry their traits? Humans are arrogant indeed! Nature's attempts at providing for everyone, and yet still controlling population, are thwarted at every single turn. They don't trust in the grand design that our universe really is. And now there is another child who very well may wind up without a family. Now there is another child who has no mother. Tell me how a seventy two year old man is going to handle parenting and grief at the same time!Tell me how he's going to handle 2 am feedings, and 4 am feedings, and changing diapers all at the same time! I hope that his family is around to raise the kid, and that they have already picked out a suitable parent to raise the child on their behalf. It is my hope that in their arrogance, they did show some responsibility to this child.

there's two sides to this story, yeah good for that woman that never had kids, but what r u going to do with a kid that's 16 when your 86 is just going to be hard to handle and the kid wont have a parent for long
