A Man With A Past Or A Man With No Past?

You are sitting in an empty bar (in a town you've never before visited), drinking Bacardi with a soft-spoken acquaintance you barely know. After an hour, a third individual walks into the tavern and sits by himself. You ask your acquaintance who the new man is. "Be careful of that guy," you are told, "he is a man with a past". A few minutes later, a fourth person enters the bar; he also sits alone. Again you ask your acquaintance who this man is. "Be careful of that guy, too," he says, "he is a man with no past". Which of these two people would you trust less?

Maybe I'd distrust the guy who is telling me this stuff. But as far as having a past vs having no past? I don't necessarily think hearing either of those things is going to cause me to distrust the person without finding our more first.

Hehe, I was thinking the same about the acquaintance. As for the two men, it's a hypothetical situation, but you really don't think you'd feel distrust towards any of them if what your acquaintance told you was true?

*Likes this question* Assuming that the information my acquaintance gave me is correct, I would probably be a little more comfortable with approaching the man with no past. It's easier to imagine trusting someone with a blank past than someone who may have wronged greatly before. =P I don't see anything wrong with no past except that it's... not really possible... *Trails off* If I had to pick, I would pick the man with no past. ;-P
